No, not possible unless you have access to his or her computer.
But, what do you think that happens when you get caught? Doesn’t spying make you untrustable as well?
When you can no longer trust each other it is time to and the relationship…Good luck anyway 🙂
SjoerdMemberNote that not updating is a security risk.
I think Messenger Discovery allows you to use MSN Messenger without updating even when Microsoft forces you to update… But.. You need admin rights to install it.
Maybe you can find a solution in this topic at MSNFanatic forums. What they do is replace the version number in msnmsgr.exe with a special program.
Have you tried webmessenger?SjoerdMemberHi Sector and welcome,
Good post. I hope we can find a solution together 🙂
First look if there is a proxy server enabled in Internet Explorer or MSN Messenger.
For MSN Messenger go to Tools, Options.., Connection and clear the “I use a proxy” box if it is enabled. If not check Internet Explorer. Open it and click Tools, Internet Options…, go to Connections tab, select your connection and click Settings. At the screen that pops up look if “Use a proxy server is enabled…”.If that didn’t work maybe you can connect your computer directly to the internet and see if it works then. If it does work a router hardware reset might work, also make sure that you have the latest router firmware installed. If not you can try to reinstall Internet Explorer.
To reinstall Internet Explore put your Windows XP disk in cd player. Then go to Start, Run and enter the following command:
rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:windowsinfie.infHope this helped.
SjoerdMemberMaybe you can try to uninstall Messenger Plus! and see if the problem is gone.
If it is still there it is most likely not Messenger Plus! but something else.
To remove Messenger Plus!, click start, then control panel and go to Add or Remove programs. You will now get a list of installed programs in what you need to select Messenger Plus! 3 and click the change/remove button. When the problem is gone try reinstalling it and see if it reappears?
Also press ctrl+alt+del and see if there are any programs using alot of CPU or Memory.
At my place msnmsgr.exe (MSN Messenger) uses 15.950 K Memory and the System Idle Process uses between 95% and 99% CPU.SjoerdMemberBuggers 🙁
Maybe somebody can write a _working_ plugin for this… I am aware of the fact that you need a server to store the messages on 🙂
SjoerdMemberHi lazyturbo 🙂
Yes I have seen this problem before. I will write down some things that fixed it for the people. Let’s hope it does the same for you.
Start with making sure your computer is free of viruses, spyware and adware. First scan your computer for viruses. If you don’t have a virus scanner, you can get AVG for free here. When that is done we are going to find and remove all spyware and adware that is hiding on your computer. To do that you need to install and run Spybot S&D and Lavasoft Ad-Aware.
After that we need to do two more things to make your computer healthy. The first one is get the latest updates and patches from windowsupdate. The second one is defragment your hard disk. When your computer is defragmenting it will put all files in the correct order on your harddisk. This will increase the speed and stabilty of your system alot depinding on how fragmented your harddisks were. To defragment your hard disks first open “My Computer”, then right-click the hard disk you want to defragment, and click “Properties”. On the Tools tab, click Defragment Now. Click Defragment. This may take a while. Repeat these steps for all your hard disks.
Finally make sure you have the latest version of DirectX installed and that your Windows and Internet Explorer are updated to the latest version.
If none worked I think you will have to take a step back and use the latest stable release of MSN Messenger.
Which is MSN Messenger 6.2.Hope this helped!
SjoerdMemberCorrect me if I’m wrong but, as far as I know. Just for people that have a mobile phone attached to their MSN Messenger account. It is not like with ICQ that the messages will be stored on the server and then send to your friend when he/she comes online. MSN will send the message to the mobile number via SMS and the receiver will have to pay for it.
I don’t see the advantage of this over MMS or e-mail..SjoerdMemberI use:
– BigBlueBall IRC
– Freenode
– Tweakers.net IRC
– TrueIRC
– Msgplus IRC
– QuakenetSjoerdMemberI can’t say if they will ever have it but not in MSN Messenger 7.0
It would be cool if they implement it sometime but until then we will have to use e-mail.SjoerdMemberHi sueandmac and welcome,
Do you mean MSN Messenger automatically signs in on both computers while you want to use a different account on one of them?
If that is your problem simply sign out on the computer you want to change. Then click “To sign in with a different account, click here.” type in the account you want to use and check the “Sign me in automatically” box. Finally hit “OK” and this is the account that MSN Messenger will use as standard in the future.
If not please try to explain what you do mean and we will try to help you further.SjoerdMemberMake sure you don’t let your girlfriend alone behind your computer in the future 🙂
If you have problems downloading AVG, here is a mirror.SjoerdMemberIt means you should use MSN Messenger 6.2. MSN Messenger 7.0 beta and especially the leaked out 7.0.0604 build (which I think you are using) is not ment for people that just want to have fun with it but for official beta testers that can write proper bug reports to help Microsoft making it error free.
Please check your computer for viruses. Read more in the other topic.
Also make sure you have the latest Windows updates and patches: http://www.windowsupdate.comGood luck and it would be nice if you could stay with one topic 😀
SjoerdMemberHi Bleasey,
If you are having this problem since yesterday it might be a server related problem that will be fixed in time. If it exists longer or you don’t want to wait try the steps below.
There can be several causes for your problem. First of all make sure your computer is clean from viruses and spyware/adware. You can get a free virus scanner here (AVG) or perform a online virus scan here (panda activescan) or here (housecall).
Also scan your computer with Spybot S&D and Lavasoft Ad-Aware to it clean from hidden spyware and adware on your computer. It is also possible that the problem is caused by your firewall or connection. Try turning your firewall off temporarily and see if the problem persists. Don’t forget to turn it on again after testing 🙂
If you have a router, try connecting your pc directly to the internet to find out if your router is the cause. When it works fine after that update your router with the latest firmware and/or do a hardware reset to see if that fixes the problem.Since MSN Messenger 7.0 is still a beta it is possible that MSN Messenger 6.2 (the latest stable release) works without problems. Try to remove MSN Messenger 7.0 (Start->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs) and install MSN Messenger 6.2 instead.
I hope this helped. If not it would be nice if you make a new post, make sure you give as much as detail if you can since this helps trying to find a solution.
SjoerdMemberLet’s start with trying to determine where the problem lies.
I understand you have (three) other computers in there. Does MSN Messenger and Yahoo work fine at the others?
If they are also having problems it most likely is something within your router. A hardware reset or upgrading to the latest router firmware might fix it. It is also important that UPnP is turned on.
If you didn’t get it to work or have problems doing the steps above please tell us where you get stucked and what model of router you have.SjoerdMemberYou can use messenger plus! to remove the ad. And then install stuffplug which has a build in polygamy patch.
