Thank you very much for all the information. A little confusing at first, but I think I got it now. Thanks again!
I’m currently getting the “server error” when trying to sign into AIM 6.0 with any of my screen names. I can’t get on AIM via AIM Express either. No network changes have been made on my side. I upgraded to Vista a few days ago, but for the past few days, it’s been fine. This error only started today.
It’s actually working again, however now the imchaos links open in a new IE browswer as opposed to the AIM window like they used to.
I just set up a new computer for my friend last night. Basically has the same specs as yours and AIM does exactly the same thing your describing, but it does it more so with the Away Message window than it does the chat window.
You are not the only one that this is happening to. With one of my screen names, I often have to attempt to sign on 2 or 3 times before it finally lets me on. With my other two screen names, it signs on instantly. I don’t know what the problem is trying to connect with my main screen name, but it’s maddening.
Will AIM Ad Hack phsyically remove the space where the ad goes? Or does it just prevent the ad from displaying? I’d rather it remove the space where the ad goes, allowing me more space to view my buddy list.

Thanks for responding, but this still does not answer my question. I already checked the features page before I made my initial post/request here. The features page lists “group im windows” as a feature. This to me, does not mean tabbed conversation ability, as it exists in DeadAIM. If it does mean this, then the developer should do a better job of describing the feature.
Also, there are no screenshots of a tabbed conversation on the screenshot page of Messenger Mate either. What I’m looking for is someone to post a screenshot of a a tabbed window that shows them having conversations with multiple IM users, so I can see what the tabbed windows look like exactly.

Thanks DinoDocta, but that’s not the point. I want one screen name to be active and be able to talk, and the other to show as away, not invisible.
And digea, I see where you mean… I hadn’t checked there before, but the only options there are to choose which away message you want listed on the linked screen name when the main screen name is away. There is no option to not have any away message on the linked screen name, which is what I want.
I see the post that had the url to the pogram is now gone. I didn’t download it because it was an .exe file from a site that I wasn’t familiar with. Red flags immediately go up to potential viruses when I see stuff like this. Plus, I didn’t need it anyway, since after editing my hosts file, I haven’t gotten any audio ads.
Where did you get the error message coming from TigerBlade? Was it an AIM error or a Windows error?
I’ve been using that hosts file modification for over a month, and have yet to hear an audio ad since I’ve made it.
Once again, I’m using AIM 5.2.3292, DeadAIM 4.0 and WindowsXP.
I edited my “hosts” file almost a month ago, and I have not received any more audio ads.
I think someone mentioned doing this above, but here goes again…
The hosts file is a hidden file located in the C:windowssystem32driversetc folder for those of you using WinXP.
Edit the file to include the following line:
127.0.0.1 ar.atwola.com

I also had deadAIM. If you look at the deadAIM forums, this is happening to us deadAIM users as well. However, it’s also happening to some of my friends who do not use deadAIM. I can’t understand it for the life of me and really need to shut them off somehow. They’ve quite literally scared the crap out of me a couple times, cause I’ll have no audio going on my puter and then all of a sudden one of these ads start playing out of nowhere.
