MemberTry switching packet methods, I suggest the peer to peer, that seems to be the most accurate.
I just updated Buddy Spy 2.1.4 to 2.1.5, which increases the pause between scans, hopefully that will help with the network latency problem that seems to be occuring.

Participant2.1.5 is far more accurate than 2.1.4 at least for where I am, the effect of increasing the pause is evident.
My suggestion is adding a combo-box so users can select a value between 1 and 20 seconds.

MemberI am glad it at least helped some, it definately improved the overall accuracy on my end.
I will be adding a combo box, either in 2.1.6 as just a quick update, or on 2.2
Ironbru, I will probably need your help in translating everything.
I am currently working on the overall GUI, so it might be a little while.
As for 2.1.6, I might have an update done by tonight or early tommorow afternoon(EST)

MemberHow would I go about using the STEALTH packet in Yahoo Messenger to see what the buddies are doing?
BeGone wrote:this “buddy scan” exploit is quite old. I remember eric aka internetprogramer doing it about a year or so ago. not only that but the “stealthing” packet in the 6.0 messenger can also be used as a scan packet.
does buddy scan tell the user what protocol the buddy is using tho?
if you understand the p2p packet well enough you can tell if the user is on ymsg, chat2/dhtml, or web messenger. as far as I know it CANNOT detect users in java tho.
just some ideas.January 4, 2005 at 10:22 pm #106629venik
MemberHow do you change the timeout? I could not find it.
aneagle wrote:I got the same problem and already suggested a solution in my previous post. The accuracy depends on whether the timeout preset in buddyspy is long enough or not to make sure that it doesn’t miss any return packet. The delay in getting a return packet depends on the latency of the network and the response time of yahoo server. In my case, for the East Coast morning time, only 20% of the scans are good if the timeout preset is 1 second, 90% of the scans are good if the timeout preset is 5 seconds.

MemberI downloaded version 2.15 and I am getting a runtime error 429. Active X component can’t create object.

MemberKimmy,
Please try uninstalling then re-installing Buddy Spy.
Secondly,
I just updated Buddy Spy to version 2.1.6.
The ‘pause’ selection is on the Options on the ‘Buddy Spy’ frame.

MemberI am getting only SCANNING in the STATUS column, both for people who are off line and for those who are online. I changed the timeout to 20 seconds, but it did not help. I am not even sure whether I am logged on, since it says: Currently not logged on”, but I only have the LOGOUT button (I have it set for Automatic login).
I must be doing something wrong, but WHAT?January 5, 2005 at 10:58 pm #106632venik
MemberBTW– I am running version 2.1.6 on Windows XP Pro (sp 2), but I have the same behavior also on a WIN2k system.

MemberSwitching to INVITE PACKET caused the program to tell me that EVERYONE is on line, when only some of them were actually on line….

MemberI guess this thread (or maybe the program?) had been deserted….;-(

I must be doing something wrong, but WHAT?If it says Currently not logged on, then your bot is not currently logged in, and it will not display the correct return.
You do not have to put the pause at 20 seconds, anywhere from 3-5 should do it.
Also, the Peer-Peer packet is the most accurate..
Also, make sure you are using a Seperate Yahoo! Account, not an alias or your main account.

MemberI KNEW I have been missing something. Where do I tell it which account am I using? Under USERID? It is always grayed out.
I guess some sort of a help would have been eh… helpful!
THanks for your work and help.January 7, 2005 at 6:51 pm #106636venik
MemberAlso, it says: “Not currently logged on” but the button reads: LOGOUT, not LOGIN, so how do I convince it to log in?
I have it set for automatic login. -
