2. Under the eXtra menu select the bottom item titled Register OCXs.
3. On the bottom left, choose the userID you used in VGrabber and make sure “Passport” is checked.

January 25, 2004 at 8:05 pm #86192Zephyr064MemberWell… I have everything running….
Except that I can’t get it to connect.
I put in the URL to the chat room in my group. It asks me what type of connection it is. I select HTTP, then it swtiches me to a blue type chat screen.
After a few seconds it tells me:
Network problems are preventing you from entering the chat service, please try again later.
However, I can join chat under the bot’s passport the regular way with no problem.
I have followed your instuctions.
I checked the Botmode under extras and that was on Auto Bot Mode Join. I swtiched it to Bot Mode Join and it asks me the “URL Type”
If I am supposed to enter in Bot Mode, how do I make sure?
Also, when I register the OCX in ViperBot it says “Now new isntances of Viper, script, and IE will not have guest_null problem.”
You’re help is appreciated.
January 27, 2004 at 7:40 am #86191Zephyr064MemberTried again… entered the url as groups.msn.com/chatfriendlyottawa/chat.msnw
I see the chat screen, then it switches me to a blue themed chat screen….
Then it just says “Network problems are preventing you from entering the chat service, please try again later.”
Then that’s it…
🙁
January 28, 2004 at 4:57 am #86187shifterMemberI’ve updated the links to the newest Viperbot, and added in a workaround for your Network Problems error.
Basically that error signifies that Viperbot can’t connect to the room with your passport. The official fix is to refresh your passport info, as it only lasts a certain amount of time.
I don’t think this is exactly your problem, but MSN is making it harder and harder to connect with ViperBot. You should now avoid directly connecting to your Group Chat room, instead you must now surf to it from the MSN People & Chat site to avoid the Network Problems error.
I completely cleaned Viper off my system and followed the steps above exactly and I was able to connect with the updated workaround. Good Luck. 🙂
January 30, 2004 at 1:22 am #86193FustratedGirl39Memberk. Well i’ve run into a little problem here and it doesnt make any sence..
I’ve installed everything up 2 step 5. When it says rename it.. Why do you have to rename it? Also, when i skipped that and went to 6, saying to update the database.. I get this message saying “Missing one or both databaes” so how do i go abouts of runing it without having that message come up?Thanks
Tired, and Fustraded:([Edit: Please do not ask for personal contact. All answers should be posted here to help others who have similar problems.]
-ShifterJanuary 30, 2004 at 2:26 am #86186shifterMemberWell, I really don’t know why you have to rename it, all I know is that it won’t work if you do it any other way (I’ve tried..trust me). You need to have both vbot.mdb and new_vbot.mdb in C:/Program Files/Viperbot/ before you can run the Database Updater.
Follow my instructions to the letter and you shouldn’t go wrong, but it only takes one missed step to foul up the whole process.
February 6, 2004 at 2:27 am #86194legsMemberheehee, hi Shifter….okies, here’s the deal… i followed the instructions above, not once but twice heehe, i can get to the room with the grabber
but when i try to connect with Viper, i get the error of server cannot authenticate me…… i canceled, and hit the ppl and chat button, and still the same thing….. hmmmmmm;)February 6, 2004 at 3:02 am #86185shifterMemberThe Community Connection Pack link seems to have changed, I have updated it and it should work properly now. This is likely the cause of your problems. Let us know how if it works out.

Congratulations. How? 😉
February 10, 2004 at 5:11 am #86198luminousMemberHOW: in step 5 shifter says to rename the file “new_vbot.mdb” but what I think you actually need to do is make a copy of the “new_vbot.mdb” file first and then rename the copy to “vbot.mdb” so that you have 2 .mdb files “vbot.mdb” and “new_vbot.mdb”.
Yea so give that a try that. Im not sure if that was the problem but right after i did that it worked.
