ok my problem isnt that I want a bot but to know how I stop one I had a msn room had being the question I had someone come in and take over it banned members including me distroyed what took so long to build that I have had to restart but I dont know how it took control of the room in the first place or how to stop this happening again can someone please help:)
yes it was a comm room which like I said is no more but I want to know how I stop it happening again
Well, if you are the manager of a community room, you need to make sure that only people you trust implicity have management positions. You gave someone too much power in your community and they screwed you for it. OR someone got access to a managers password and simply did as they pleased. You need to tighten up your security regarding passwords and staff. Thats all you can do.
ty for the help but while I was here I download the viper its seems a good program having a few problems as most of the tutorals I found are not that clear I was able to get it to boot ppl but it keeps kicking them out so when I do unclick auto kick it either doesnt kick them or starts auto kicking again plus in the data base where all the swear words are stored I cant seem to add any new words and one real bugging thing is when my bot signs in with the name I gave it a old passport I had it doesnt come in with a hammer even though the passprt it uses has a gold manager’s hammer any help would be grateful ty
Ok, again I’m assuming your using a community room here. If you followed my tutorial at the begining of this thread through completely, you should have a gold hammer when entering your room. As for the other problems, they have been covered lightly in my beginner tutorial located here. Basically, make sure you don’t have ‘Set akk’ checked as it will add every name ViperBot kicks to the kick list. You will then still need to remove them from your kick list if they’ve already been added, as unchecking autokick does not remove them from the list.
You can access the Database editor (which contains the bad word kicks) from the extra menu in ViperBot’s Main Chat Screen. Enter the word you would like to add in the Edit warn/Kick Words white box and click Add. You can also use the arrow keys to scroll through the various entered words and change/delete them. Each word also has a number level assigned to it. The levels are: 1-15 = kick, 16-45 = Warn/Message, 46 = Spectator, 47-50 = Spectator with Message. (NOTE: If you delete words, always leave at least one word in the list.) To use this feature you need to check off the Profanity WK box in the ViperBot Controls Kick/Warn Tab.

ok I am using a comm room I am a manager and so is the passport I use for my bot I followed all your first instrutions except 2. Run “Vgrabber.exe” it was installed but any time I clicked run as ..as this is the only option I could find to run it it asked for a user name and id which was a windows box so I got another grabber which allowed me to surf to my room and log in with the passport used for the bot the bot does enter the room and has the gold hammer for less then a second b4 it leaves and re enters without the hammer if I ran the Vgrabber.exe” wrong then could you say how to run it as you aint clear and I have seen others have had the same problem ty
ok your helped as far as stopping the bot kicking all lol and using the database but the above problem is still the same so ty for the other help and wait to hear to fix the hammer loss one
Please make sure you actually install the included Vgrabber.exe as it is the most up to date version.
As far as the instructions for running Vgrabber, I have made them as clear as possible. Is there a specific step that isn’t making sense?
Btw, it shouldn’t matter, but which Operating System are you using?
i went through each step and installed viperbot and vgrabber and all other programs and things are fine but you say run vgrabber how I click vgrabber where it is stored and opened all that did was go to reinstall it so I tried run as but all that does is bring up a log in box for windows password I gather so like I said I got vgrabber from hafo (company name I guess ) after you install your vgrabber where does it put it so I can run it ..?? my main prob as I have worked how to kick and all the other cool stuff viper can do is how to keep my hammer the passport is registered as a manager but when I enter the room it loads and for a split second I have my gold hammer was able to see it but the bot logs out and then in again without the hammer so if the bot gets booted he loses what ever hammer I issue it as I am having to host it in room which isnt much good as I cant leave the bot to run the room as it losses its host abilitys and cant do nowt once its hammers gone
ok did some more checking went through viper whole folders the version of vgrabber I have is the one I needed that you had a as a download just I have too since I download another one when I couldnt find urs just the new one isnt in the same folder all problems are corrected now expect the loss of hammer I said two posts ago also I was wondering as you said I was screwed over by someone I trusted would this of had to of been a perm assit manager/manager or can a viper take over a room from someone just issuing a temp one in the chat room and if they used a account to which a hammer was given does deleting the oringnal passport and banning from my room stop the bot coming back even if they have hid there id as there still using the same passport ty
Ok, someone (another manager) is running there own bot and kicking/de-hosting your bot, thats why you cannot stay gold. Figure out who it is and get rid of them.
I really don’t have any experience with taking over a chatroom, so I can’t help you too much there. Just be careful who you trust. When you ban someone with Viperbot, it bans the passport ID, not the Nickname. So once a passport is banned it cannot come back in the room as long as Viperbot is there.
Another thing to try is using a different passport for Viperbot. You will have to grant it management status, but perhaps it will get around who ever is booting you and you can take back control of your room.
ty shifter bot works fine now can you tell me if someone is hosted in the comm room only there not made perm assit or managers can they still take a room over or do they have to be perm hosts only to do this ..plus is there any where I can go to read more details on how to use some of the features that are in the main viperbot window under options like the room options plus is there a way of hiding the bots hammer so ppl dont know it has one and how do I change its name so I can hide it in the room if thats possible ty you have been a big help so far
