Yeah, I got it several times (the minutes did not change). It did not kick me off except I did notice about an hour after the so-called maintainence began, that I signed on without signing off. It seemed strange…
CharlesMemberWhat a useful post from andrewjm.
To the point: Yes, you can. It requires a registry hack. I suggest you close AIM while doing this to prevent errors.
To speed things up, do a search. (ctrl-F) and type in “gonemsg”. (Without the quotes)
This should bring you to a set of keys that are gonemsg0, 1, 2 and so on
Look to the right and you should see under the data,
Windows Session Loggoff Right click all but one of them and hit delete.
(If you delete them all, one will come back, I think)
And you’re done…
If you have any questions just post…CharlesMemberIt works just fine for me. If it had tabbed-IMs, I would probably keep it. Also, I am not finding this remove yourself from someone else’s buddy list. Other than that, it isn’t bad.
CharlesMemberThe phone you have does support AIM through Cingular. This is a new thing. At one time, they did only support IM fowarding and IMing a number; that is no longer the case.
CharlesMemberThat was the first thing I tried. It didn’t work. I hate this virus crap.
CharlesMemberThis is all stupid crap. AOL should store the profiles on their server instead of allowing them to be changed on users’ computers by this stupid trojan crap. The realphx BS is pointless…a virus that is “adware” that seems to only spread? Sounds like a poor excuse for a virus. They need to think of something new. I am sure that they do not need to resort to overwriting everyone’s profile to get their point accross, whatever it may be. BTW, I do consider their stupid lil software spyware as it installs it without the user’s permission due to a hole in IE. It is all f-ing ridiculous and if i met whoever runs RealPHX, I’d smack ’em up!
AHHH F*CK……just realized I’m infected……those %#*^(#!
Well….until I find removal instructions, I encrypted the info file…hid it…and made it read-only. So far it works and I have restarted AIM and such to make sure. Now…about that fix…the old one from RealPHX didn’t work and just pissed me off more. Anyone else got an idea?
CharlesMemberAll you have to do is not to access the mail for 90 days (i think, they might have changed it); and once Netscape deletes your account, it should automatically be deleted.
CharlesMemberIf they IM you while you have an away message up, wouldn’t you be considered the fastest?…Or, will they not IM you if you’re away?
CharlesMemberIt should at least be an option. They could always make it so you download the WildTangent crap after you install to use games. They went a little overboard this time.
CharlesMemberNow all we need is logging and it is then the equivalent to DeadAIM 3. Who predicted this??? Me! Once buddy aliasing is put in, J. Dennis will have no reason for is software. As for the ads, just use some other free program. And for tabs, who knows? AOL betas now have them (in a very bad format), so AIM might have them soon too.
CharlesMemberI think its a load of bull to get you to buy 4.x. I don’t recall reading a EULA when installing DeadAIM 3.2, but I may have not noticed…
CharlesMemberI am happy with DeadAIM 3…free and it works.
CharlesMemberOk…first off, this is unrelated to MSN or Windows Messenger. This is a “feature” built into Windows. At your school, the firewall most likely blocks the messages. To turn them off:
-Right-click my computer, click on Manage…
-Expand Services and Applications
-Click on services
-Scroll down the right and double-click Messenger.
-Turn startup type to Disabled and hit stop just below that
-Hit OK and you’re done.
…of course, you could always dl some program…but this is easier.
CharlesMemberA mod will be here to take this off the board as BBB doesn’t support “piracy” here. Oh well…I will see if it works.
CharlesMemberI never really cared about it.
