it seems to me that it might stand for “No Buddy List Ad Sound” and a value of zero would mean “no” so it says “No to not having buddy list ad sound” so perhaps changing the 0 to a 1, thus turning it to “yes” might kill the audio ads…no im just guessing on all of this plus like the buddy list limit thing, it will probably reset every time you sign on
S E A are C H — AIMutation is not operational with AIM 5.5 you have to either get rid of AIMutation or downgrade to AIM 5.2 ( http://www.oldversion.com )
If you go…Preferences –> Sign On/Off –> Connection…it will show you the port that you are connecting too 🙂

http://www.aim.com/remote/index.adp?aolp=Im running 5.2 and the F2 trick works fine for me, in order to get rid of any html code at the ends ( ) all you have to do is after you paste, simply hit spacebar, i dont know why this works, but it seems to work for me…I have it in my profile, check it out if you want and IM me if you need more help — dukebonaventura (yes thats my screename :p)
It may be that im still running 5.2, but whenever you double click on anyones name, regardless of if they are online or not, it will pull up a new IM…i guess what im saying is i have no idea! :p
It sounds like a problem with your AIM…i would save your buddy lists (My Aim –> Save Buddy List) then reinstall AIM
I dont know which provider you have, and i also dont know about other service providers, but i have Verizon and with the Get It Now service, you can download a program called Mobile IM…It allows you to sign on AIM, MSN, or Yahoo. It loads your buddy list then allows you to IM people or even put up an away message. Its a great little application, the only downfall is that every message is a text message, so incoming and outgoing IMs can add up! 🙂
In order to see how long someone has been online or how long they have been idle, all you have to do is either hover over their screename and it will pop up, or look at the person’s profile. The screenames that are idle or offline are the color that they are because of your Windows settings…if you have changed the appearance of Windows, then it will be something other than the default which is grey…hope this helps 🙂
ive tried Aim+ and Middle_Man and all of those and have ran into problems…i guess im waiting for Middle_man to be a final release, or for Otsego…but i like the aliasing cuz i like my buddy list very plain and simple so i like to just have the names instead of like X0CuTiEpIe69 or whatever thats all :p
