I certainly think its a good idea to merge them all back in to one forum.
Specialization in this case is redundant because of inactivity.I actually liked the last comment of Jeff.
Yes we do not want to see another bloated IM program.
But I did like the emoticons as they are as simple as they can be.
Most of them are merely 90 degrees rotated text based emoticons.

I’m sure you all have seen me in Hollywood movies…..If it is timed to disconnect you should get disconnected everytime after exact no. of minutes and seconds.
I dont know if you have enough spare time to try it out but do satisfy yourself i you have time though i’d believe Google wouldnt do this since it affects their QOS.Quote:– Aim

Bear the formatting.I think Trillian’s forum remains inactive and hence it and Gaim can be merged into one forum called Multi Protocol/Network clients and any other simmilar IM software would fall into the same category.
As long as IRC is concerned I dont know where should it lie if not in Chat and IM Alt.
Windows Live Messenger allows you to chat while appearing offline because your online presence and chat are menained on seperate servers. MSN Messenger 7 has a client side restriction which prevents you from chatting while appearing offline i.e the message typing area is grayed out and you can’t type in it. But in order to start a new conversation MSN Messenger has to communicate with the server that maintains your presence. If you dont send a message for a minute and a half, the chat server disconnects you automatically but you dont get to know about it since MSN Messenger reconnects in background when you send another message but when you’re appeared offline you can not start a new conversation and hence you’re unable to send a message after that idle time.
Bottom Line: you can start a conversation and change your status to appeared offline but you can’t start a conversation after you’ve changed your status to appeared offline.
Can’t the profile updating module be modified to send an automatic email to the user and log it for you Jeff?
