MemberIndeed. And leave a note bout what we’re doing in the premier forums and that we want their opinion on our plans – or if we aren’t ready, let them know that we’ll need their assistance sometime in the future.
imported_EvilSeph
MemberI say we silently make it disappear, but let them keep their access to the premier member forums. Once we’ve done this, we can let them know, through that forum, what we’re planning to do – effectively showing them that there is a point to being premier.
If anything, I’d “keep” them, silentlly hide the program but let the current paying members help shape the new BBB. That way they have an incentive to buy it when we bring it back with a renewed force and more to offer.

MemberWell, I’m still trying to see if it is even right for what we need, let alone if the server can run it…
Now that I think of it..there are a lot of alternatives that may be good for us.
imported_EvilSeph
MemberHmm…do we really need an announcements forum? Why not have all our announcements have full lime-light – on the front page?
I don’t think the BBB Podcast needs its own section and on that note, I think we should suspend all further “recordings” of podcasts and focus on what is more important instead – up to date information and reshaping.
We could bring back any “special” stuff after we hit the world hard with a new version of BBB.

MemberI like the IM setup. I think a whole category just for computing tech. is a waste.
OK, approaching this is trickier than I thought. *thinks*.

MemberI just felt using ‘-‘s is clearer than ‘>’s.
Anyway, my opinion:
First off, moving the staff forums is going to annoy me – greatly. Since the public can’t see them – why move them? What difference does it make?…I’m so used to the design now I can navigate in my sleep.
Secondly, why seperate “BigBlueBall” from “Community”? I always thought they were one and the same. BigBlueBall *IS* the community and by seperating them, you’re making it seem like the community comes second or vise versa with regards to BigBlueBall.
In the end, I don’t see why we are even touching the layout. A few small changes is enough, I think. But I’ll get back to you after I’ve _really_ looked at it.

MemberI’m strongly against wikis but I can’t gather my thoughts right now.
Also, I’ve proposed something that, if it is possible, would be better than a wiki by far.
imported_EvilSeph
MemberHave a great time! I strongly suggest you take a break from BigBlueBall and just enjoy your vacation. You’ll miss BBB and end up wanting to contribute more – with renewed energy too.

Are you familiar with vB? I’m not so this is new to me, and I’m trying to research how it can be done, or even where this is done from.
…good luck. You won’t get far without a vBulletin license. 😛
And yes, I’m familiar with most, if not all, the major bulletin board softwares out there.

MemberHaving a set time each week is bad. It makes people expect things that don’t happen — broken promises.
Rather let people know in advance. I suggest putting it in #staff’s topic and +s’ing the channel. #staff needs to be locked down in order to be effective.
In the past sites that have run weekly meetings (even if they did not occur) have died. Because their staff just show up with nothing to say, just to ensure their spot on staff.
I’m speaking from experience…take it as you will.

MemberI wasn’t speaking with regards to email – I was using email as an analogy.
I believe it could be pretty easy to hack out the quote inclusion snippet and then you just have a blank reply with recipient + subject.
imported_EvilSeph
MemberI’m not sure about vB as I haven’t played around with its arcade..but adding games is..well, a bitch. It’s time consuming and…you get bored of it after awhile.

MemberWhen socialization becomes a chore – it becomes a big letdown. Just point out the existance of IRC and how to properly use it and we should be fine.
Can we at least trial that? I really hate it when we’re told to talk to people. I do it on my own, thank you very much.
A regular meeting? No. A meeting for a purpose? Yes. I think you’ll find that people HATE meetings in the work place because they’re so regular and without true purpose. If there’s a topic that everyone knows about and it doesn’t become a re-occuring “chore” then the meetings are fine. But if it becomes to serious…you won’t see me attending most of them.
As everyone has said before, we give to BigBlueBall when we can. However, my long “absence”, albeit being online, is due to holding a silent protest against the plethora of broken promises we’ve faced coming from the Administration. And don’t tell me a silent protest is useless – I protested and protested but nothing came of it. A silent protest was all we had, and I can finally say I’m happy that things are moving again.

MemberA quote is meant to be like a normal reply to an email – it retains the previous conversations’ contents. A reply is meant to be like a completely new email ready to be fired off, over a topic already in discussion.
