thankx Cesar.What version of Windows and Service Pack are you running? I have a few things to try, depending on what your OS is and what OSes I have access to.
Number 1 is at the fault of AIM, due to a change in screen resolution (to lower, then back to higher) that AIM is unable to cope with; this does not apply directly to games, but a resolution change in general. You can change your desktop resolution to something lower then revert to higher and experience the same issue.
I’ll look into the others to see if my mods are the cause.
I’ve supported Jay Loden’s work for many years, so give his virus removal a whirl as well–on ALL of your computers.

Post the text and we’ll see if there are any easy catches. If you get a “Windows – No Disk” error message (I do), some program is looking for something that no longer exists…a fix for that is here (right-click and “save target as”/”save link as”): http://jon8rfc.homeip.net/registry/stopwindowsnodiskerror.reg which will just hide the error window…you can open that file into notepad to see exactly what it is, and you’ll see it’s clean and not doing anything scary.
If the issue occurs with that single person, it’s likely to be an issue on their end; if it happens with more than that one person, it could be lag on your end, especially if you’re connecting to the ‘net via wireless.
Sometimes a silent, unexpected closing of AIM is due to parsing errors of html (deliberately, or due to plugins/add-ons on either end of the conversation) when chatting or viewing someone’s profile. Upgrading to newer versions of AIM often fixes those errors, which some people exploit to intentionally crash a person’s AIM client, but you won’t necessarily know it crashed…AIM just silently disappears.

Added instructions on how to remove the profile ads, and it looks flawless 😀 However, it removes the tabs in the window…so if you’re like me and don’t use the profile tabs, I have the solution.
Can a mod sticky this thread? I’m not sure why I never stickied it in the past.

I haven’t done any customizing with AIM in at least a couple of years, but in the next couple of weeks I’ll look into this and the other ad (mentioned in an earlier post) to see what I can come up with.

Thanks for the support…I really do appreciate it.
A nice turn of events is that PayPal contacted me, because they had been contacted about a wallet that had been found with a PayPal credit card. So I have my wallet back, minus some cash, but I’m so relieved to have it and the contents back…AND, in great condition, for being found out on a highway that I haven’t been on since December.

Yeah, I’ve been AFK for a while and want to fix that ASAP–thanks for covering, Dave. I can think of one person that I can give a seal of approval on for knowledge and professionalism. He’s a moderator on the middle_man forums and was a moderator at the AIM+/Big-O-Software forums since the beginning. His user name on middle_man forums is “Matt”…I guess you could check out some of his posts and then shoot him an email if you think he would be a good addition to the team.

Well, I’ve been AFK pretty badly and have been busy with all kinds of stuff and try to hang out with friends as much as possible to keep stress & depression under control. I had a panic attack last time I tried to fly out to Seattle to get all my stuff and my car, but I think I’ll make it out this Wednesday. Once there, I’ll hang around for a few days and then make the 2000+ mile drive from Seattle to San Antonio. I haven’t found the right apartment yet, so I’ll probably continue to be AFK, hanging out with friends a lot to distract me from myself.
And Nessa, I hope we can watch our Spurs before the finals are over…maybe at The Flying Saucer? My friends like Trivia Night, and that is on Tuesdays at 730, so we might do trivia night & spurs at the same place.
As I said, once I settle into an apartment, things should get flowing more easily. I can have people over and do BBB at the same time since people will be over often.

It’s likely to be in use if you get that error. You can try going into safe mode, as David described above, or you can try using Unlocker, which I’ve found useful for almost a year now.
Nessa, I’d really like to meet sometime since we’re both staff. I haven’t found an apartment yet (moving back from Seattle), but I’m sure friends will be coming over a lot once I get one. If I get it before the finals are over, it would be fun if you came to watch the Spurs with us 😀 I have it on in the background right now since I didn’t go to watch with friends tonight.
