Unfortunately, you can’t do it as of now. They didn’t bother adding this feature into 6.0. I’ve already submitted a request for them to bring it back. Hopefully it will be in the next version.

I think that’s much more likely to be the case. I know a few of my buddies keep appearing like this every other day or so, and I know for a fact they don’t have instant idlers, or would even know how to use one. The cable or DSL, whatever they might be using, is probably just having problems.
Hey, Jon. Will you be making a “howto” for 6.0 now that there’s a final release? Editing all parts of the previous AIM versions was very easy and quick with your guide. The colors and some other things in 6.0 are already starting to annoy me 😀
My buddy icon just disappears every now and then. I have to keep uploading it back if I want it to show up to people and myself.
It’s sad that people will actually look down on you for not wanting to/not being able to pay for an addon to an already free program.
I think they might automatically log the conversations, but I’m not exactly sure either. Since that’s the only logging software they have listed here, I tried it, but it’s nowhere near worth it. It puts a search bar type thing in your taskbar and is just a pain. I was disappointed that they didn’t even bother to explain how it works either. And as much as I’m looking for something to log my conversations, it’s just not worth it. I wish they actually had a real program that logs AIM conversations.
Anyone know of any programs? I’d probably be willing to downgrade to 5.5 or even 5.2, but one of the reason why I want to stick with 5.9 is talking while away.
I too recently remember a screen name that I haven’t used. I know it has been at least two years since I last used it too, and no one else could have possibly used it. But yet, I tried to sign on to it a few days ago and it worked. You’d think it would have been long gone.

I’m sure some of them haven’t been in use for much longer than six months. People change screen names and stop using old ones many, many times, at least from my experiences.
People always say after six months you can get them, but I know they’re wrong. I’ve watched out for quite a few screen names over the years. Now, granted I’m obviously not watching AIM 24 hours a day, but a bunch of the screen names I’ve wanted, I have not seen on even once for YEARS. Even before you could go invisible on AIM. You’d think I’d have at least seen it sign on every once and awhile. Sure, they could be blocking people that aren’t on there buddy list also, but I doubt every single one of them has been doing it. It just seems like once a screen name is registered, that’s it. The only way to get it is from the actual person that registered it.
