I personally haven’t seen this work for years now. I’m curious as to why the pages still exist. Also, why hasn’t yahoo answered the question in their help. I have contacted yahoo about the issue with no response. Maybe, eventually people will all go to Myspace and then what will yahoo do with their dwindling numbers of active users?

… what it does is have 2 feeds from your webcam (one of your actual webcam and another of something else like a picture or a movie) so that instead of just having to deny someone access to view your webcam (thats being a pest and keeps asking), you can grant them access to watch the picture or movie that you choose … while at the same time the people that you granted access can watch your webcam without a hitch
… anyone ?
Yes, I’ve heard of it but it doesn’t do what you want to do. It allows your cam to be sent to more than one application. For example, if you want to be on cam on Yahoo Messenger and on cam on MSN Messenger, this cam splitter program will allow you to do that. In fact, you can ‘split’ your cam to as many as 256 applications (or something like that). It also allows you to use a video or picture file as the cam source, but that video or picture would go to all the applications using the cam, not just one. In other words, the cam splitter program allows you to send your cam or video or pic to more than one application, but the same cam or video or pic will be sent to all the applications. I hope that explains it.
rrvballMemberDermot wrote:As was said, if you want to Add somebody under a specific Alias you need to be Logged in as that Alias. The pick name to pm with, is just that, you’re still logged in as your main id.
So if you want to add them or whatever, make sure you’re using your alias if you don’t want people to know your main id.
That’s not true. I just tried it and was able to add someone and specify the alias/profile that I wanted them to see and they did not see my main id even though I was logged in as my main id.
rrvballMemberhatedjealousy wrote:To get old versions of Yahoo! Messenger look here at the Yahoo! FAQ #13.Yeah, I realized that after I typed it. I really just wanted to know what version 7 he/she was using and if it wasn’t a version available at those FAQ sites, then where do I get it.
rrvballMembersunflowers wrote:Im pretty sure on your end it will show your default ID but on their end it shows the alias. If you have two accounts you can try it on yourself. Send an offline to your other account and see what comes up. Like I said, they see your alias, you do not. At least thats my experience.Yes, that works, but why did Yahoo change it. It gives me an uncomfortable feeling that the receiver might be able to get my main id.
shergill wrote:Try to login with your alias and then sends the message.Hope it works.Yes, I assume that works too, but that defeats the purpose of allowing more than one alias and being able to have different people see a different alias.
I guess I’m just ranting now. I just can’t see the reason why yahoo changed it.
No-Way wrote:Stay with YIM 7, its faster than the version 8What version of 7 are you using and where do you get it?
rrvballMemberOk, I’m using 8.0.0.711. I guess that’s the latest. Oh and btw, I just installed it on my desktop (I had 8.0.0.683 on there) and it does it there too. It appears maybe 8.0.0.711 isn’t the way to go.
What’s the latest stable, mostly bug-free version?
rrvballMemberFirst of all, you need to make your subject more informative than “NEED HELP!”. Sure, that might get some people’s attention, but in the long run, it will mostly be ignored.

After spending all afternoon and uninstalling and re-installing YM twice, I know now that the problem is with the YM server. I depend on YM to keep me in touch with my fiance in China. I didn’t realize how much I count on YM until I didn’t have it!I know this may be a little late, but you and your fiance should definitely get on at least one other instant messenger (MSN, AIM, Skype, etc) and make a plan for when yahoo is down.
Btw, YIM has been down for me for about 6-7 hours now. I don’t really know because I was talking to my gf on Skype when it went down and didn’t notice the exact time.
rrvballMemberhey calila214,
2 questions for you:
1) Can you currently connect to yahoo messenger?
2) When your cam is on your screen, does it look ok?rrvballMemberCan anybody out there verify that they can login to yahoo messenger?
Thanks

rrvballMemberraydenl wrote:http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/raydenl/ycapture/That link didn’t work, pointed me to http://raydenl.freesuperhost.com/ycapture/ which had a download link of http://raydenl.freesuperhost.com/ycapture/YCapture.exe, but that didn’t work. Gave me error:
ForbiddenYou don’t have permission to access /ycapture/YCapture.exe on this server.
Any help?
rrvballMembercamoflaugegecko wrote:Thank you guys. I did everything you suggested and still nothing. The last thing I tried was a trojan scanner. After trying two without any luck i tried a third one. And there it was stareing at me laughing in my face. Well once i cleaned it out I reinstalled y! messenger brand new version. And I got on no problem. Everything seems back to normal so hopefully i can get back to work and make up lost time. Thanks everyone and I promise to stick around and help out where I can. Big Blue Ball rules and im linking you guys on my site. Thanks again.Gecko
Btw, for future reference, what was the trojan scanner that worked?
rrvballMemberI’m having the same problem that just started last night. I can not login to yahoo mail or anything on the yahoo website, but I can login to yahoo messenger and send and receive messages there. When I try to login to via the web, I get an “Invalid Password” but I know it’s correct because I can login using Yahoo Messenger.
Update: I tried logging in going to the My Yahoo page and that login worked and then I was able to get to my mail and what’s weird is then Outlook Express was also able to login and download my mail. I tried to go to the My Account page and received a page with the following msg:
Unfortunately, there is a server problem preventing access to this page. We are working on this problem, and functionality will be restored as soon as possible. Please try again in 10 minutes.
Try login again. So, it definitely appears to be a problem on yahoo’s end.
