MemberWell, you cant upgrade to the new AIM with Win 95, Just click the “Do not upgrade” button and it shouldnt bother you again about it.
And you can copy your data. Your profile and buddy icons are stored in C:WindowsApplication DataAIM on Win 95, 98, and ME (just copy the to get it all folder)
C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataAIM for Win XP ( is the user you are logged in as.All your settings and Away messages are stored in the Registry.
Run Regedit (careful with what you do in the registry, it could mess up your computer)
In the folder HKEY_Current_UserSoftwareAmerica Onlinethere should be a folder called “AOL Instant Messenger (TM)”
Single click that hit file Export, and save the file.
Then copy that to your other computer, and run it..hit yes to accept and the registry will be imported into this computer… This will copy all your away messages, fonts, and settings.Sathallrin
MemberThey should be working for you, maybe check again to make sure the enable emoticons is on.
If it is on, and still not working, you could try uninstalling and reinstalling yahoo. That may fix the problem.Sathallrin
MemberWith one person, I can get super web cam to work fast… We open a 2 way super web cam using the large picture mode, and it runs at about 15 fps both ways. One side being on a school connection, and the other on a normal cable modem, going all the way across the country… East coast to West coast.
Most users I havent been able to get super to work, even when we are both still on fast connections. I guess just some connections are luckier then others.

MemberAs you are posting in the AIM forum, im assuming you want to edit the AIM registry. Which is at HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/America Online/AOL Instant Messenger
I have found that just by editing these entries, you cant really mess up your computer (not saying it isnt possible) the only real threat is making AIM not work where you have to reinstall it again.Sathallrin
MemberIve had a similar problem before, but you ususally just have to wait 15 minutes and you can sign on again..unless you are trying to connect again constantly.
I’ve had my warning up to 100% before, and had no trouble signing on, and it takes 48 hours for a warning of 100 to get back to 0.
Not sure why you cant sign on after weeks, but maybe try signing on with a different computer and see if that works. Then try your own again.Sathallrin
MemberI believe some of the expressions might come with a few new smiles, but so far AIM hasnt gotten to implementing most of them, they are “supposed” to be comming in a future release. But like everything that they do, we have no idea what they are up to.

MemberAIM+ does do some thing with AIM 5.x but it doesnt do everything listed in the features… Those features work with version 4.8 best. AIM+ has had the best logging feature that I have found.
Origionally AIM 4.3 was the first AIM to have a logging feature built into it, but they took it out with the next release.

MemberI guess it depends on the area what program most people use… because where I live… almost everyone uses AIM and nothing else.
Seems odd that it happens that way, but it seems like it does.~Sathallrin~

MemberI use AIM mostly, only because everyone I know uses it. Most people I know, don’t use any of the others except AIM. I am on AIM mostly because of this… As far as the interface goes… I haven’t seen the newer versions of Yahoo and MSN, so I haven’t seen and of the pretty things people talk about.
AIM’s interface is simple, but not really great, but I use it to talk to my friends, so therefore it is my favorite of the “big four”.~Sathallrin~

MemberWe could have different times setup for diffent messengers… So each chat will be based on a certain IM.
Or we could just set a few times that could be a free for all chat. Where people can just ask and answer questions about anything.

MemberYes, Duke Nuke’m. Some sound bytes are from Army of Darkness.
Duke Nuke’m was originally modeled after Ash (Bruce Cambell). (The main charater). They changed him qute a bit for the game, but they still used some of the sounds. The one liners…~Sathallrin~
