Actually, because Jeff has friendly URL’s enabled, the system translates ยบNoยบ the same way as -No-. It drops the symbols. Of course, this then gives both users the same profile link. I guess the system has a bug! ๐ฎ
I’d say just stop allowing the symbols, they must be hard to type when you login anyway. ๐
shifterParticipantTwo major rules for avoiding eBay scams:
- Always pay with PayPal. If you use any other service or send a cheque or money order, eBay will not be able to refund your money if you do get scammed. (eBay owns PayPal)
- Always ask for the shipping costs before you bid on an item. It sucks to buy a $5 item, then find out it ships for $50. ๐

It could be kind of long, so maybe a rant with some sort of twist? What about mentioning the ideology of teens using instant messaging compared to their social lives? The differences between staying up late to hang with friends, go to the movies, have a boyfriend, girlfriend compared to staying up late to chat with people their don’t know personally from all over the world. The differences between leaving the house for endeavors and staying in a computer room on a chair for an indefinite period of time. The differences between using grammar they learned in school with their speaking abilities compared to their short cut typing abilities that could be corrupting their knowledge that they learned in school. BRB, TTYL, U etc all short cuts that evidentially could and do wind up in their English papers etc in school.
I have more ideas where else it can go from this point, but it’s really bias and I think I’ll just leave it at that. Now how is THAT for an idea?! :pUHhh, maybe I’ll leave that rant in your hands. I don’t need to be the only ranter – feel free to contribute ๐

EDIT: Done! But no preview this time, you’ll have to wait for the podcast ๐
shifterParticipantI’d love to record some more rants, but I just can’t seem to come up with anything to rant about. Any topic suggestions would be appreciated!
shifterParticipantDefinitely well deserved! Congratulations PolarBearNPR! You’ve got an awesome attitude and your friendliness rubs off on everyone. ๐
shifterParticipantI had a neighbor like that as well, though not quite that bad! She was definitely the neighborhood gossip and knew everything about everyone. Very annoying. Too bad she moved away. ๐
shifterParticipantFile transfers enable Peer-to-Peer mode which means you’d be directly connected together.
shifterParticipantI’m not big into it, but I think it’s great. My buddy has his band on it and they get tons of exposure just being on there. Plus, it doesn’t have to be that ugly. I think the problem is the parents, not websites. Simple as that.
shifterParticipantAre you using the latest version of SimpLite for MSN? It does say that v2.2.4 has “Full support for Windows Live Messenger (MSN Messenger 8.0)”. If so, have you sent a report of your issue to Secway using there support contact form?
shifterParticipantOK, well try uninstalling WLM & Plus and then reinstall WLM only, see if it gets rid of the problem. If it does, try putting Plus back on. I have WLM & Plus running just fine, so it shouldn’t technically be the problem. But the best place to start is generally the uninstall & reinstall option.
shifterParticipantIt may not be pretty, but it certainly is very disrespectful to those who actually have acne problems. Don’t be cruel, they can’t help it!
shifterParticipantI like the names we have, I find the term Moderator to be very tight-ass and lame. The roles we have now reflect very well on what we do. I’m not a global moderator, I’m a Team Leader. I’m in charge of a team of Advisors & Mentors. My job is not to moderate the AIM forums or the CC forums, it’s to guide my Team in the Yahoo & MSN Forums. The term Global Moderator would be incorrect then for the Team Leader position. As for Advisor, I find it much more interesting, friendly and approachable than the old mean MODERATOR who never lets you get away with anything. ๐
I’d like to add that I have a hard time keeping track of which staff member is one which team (besides my own of course). I know many of us have our role listed in our User Title, but alot of us don’t, which means that forum members don’t even know which area you are in charge of actually helping. That’s Brutal! I think rather than using our User titles (which is obviously not working), perhaps we could incorporate the forum name into the badge somehow.
shifterParticipantFirefox has nothing to do with WLM, so no it shouldn’t be the problem. Have you tried doing a reinstall? Do you have any Addons installed like MsgPlus! or the MessPatch?
shifterParticipantHave you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling WLM?

The XPlay software sounds like it works pretty good, except for the file conversion. I’d have to make all my WMA files into MP3s.You’re gonna have to convert them anyway, iPods only support playback of MP3, AAC, WAV, Apple Lossless & AIFF. There were rumors floating around that WMA support would be added, but those have turned out false as of yet. -
