Why does it seam that whenever we get one of these “AIM Tricks” topics (this must be the 10th one so far, gets a little repetitive) the conversation is almost always the same: People who have only had 1 post come in and ask questions that have been answered in all of the previous “AIM tricks” topics and some other topics. Then the senior members (Jeff, Rustedtight, etc) answer the questions in an act of kindness, even though they should just ignore the people, or tell them to look in the other topics, or at least go to google and do a little search. For example, maybe you want to know about the F2 trick or sumthing, you would go to google, type in “AIM” +F2 +trick or “AIM F2 trick” you are bound to come up with something, actually probably a couple of hundred thousand sites, but no reason to go through them all, because one of the first 3 or 4 hits will give you what you want. Now wouldn’t that be just a little bit easier than signing up for an account with BigBlueBall and then posting only once (and, also wasting Jeffs memory). And then making people like Jeff and all of the other moderators read through your repetitive messages and for the 10th or 11th time answer the same question. I just wish people would stop and think everyonce in a while about some BESIDESthemselves.

Along with the ability to eliminate the character limit in AIM while you are direct connected, you can also sign off of AIM and still talk to the person/s that you are direct connected to. This is great for those conversations that are to important to be interupted, not that I would be lucky enough to have one.:)

ya, really, i don’t think i have read one post from this guy/girl that doesn’t in some way come down on another member of the bigblueball community, i don’t like people like that.

isn’t 127.0.1 the IP address that loops back to your own computer? so, if your IP is 127.0.1, wouldn’t that mean that you are SITTING AT MY COMPUTER!!!!! Also, you should be sitting at every computer that is connected to the internet (or at least all of them that use this IP for this purpose).

I have been using 5.0 for about a week now, nothing has gone wrong. So far i like it a little bit better than previous versions, of course, i suppose i should since it is an Improvement on the older versions. the only thing that i can’t figure out is where the indicator that shows that your friend is typing is. *hit myself for most likely missing something extremely obvious*

Thanks a lot jeff, that will definitely help me set up my families wireless network. the reason i decided to go wireless was because we do have 2 laptops and the other two desktops are on oppostie sides of the house (to answer rustedtight’s question). Also, with the layout of my house, putting in wires would take so long that by the time i finished I would have recked my house and the method of using wires would be outdated. actually i think that wireless is already starting to take over.
Also, yes Jeff, there is a two way satelite service. That is what we plan to get as soon as it is available in our area. hopefully, the two way satelite service will be able to hook up to the router. I guess i’ll just have to check it outthanks everyone for all the help

Direct TV has a satelite service called DIRECT PC. In fact i just saw an add for it today. There are also a few other satelite services ( their names on the tip of my tongue of course). satelite sounds real good except for the ping which is bad because of the time required to travel from the dish to the satelite to the server. I think the satelite systems run at about 10 MPS but this could be wrong because at the moment i have a million numbers in my head that i need to remember.
the only thing that i am not lookign for is the long lag time in gameing rooms
, but o well. anything is better than 7 seconds of lag in almost all online games.-Zlink123

direct TV has one that is called Direct PC and there are a few other ones to. I think that they run at around 14MPS (or 10MPS?) but I am really not sure. i have to many numbers in my mind right now so that is prolly wrong.
