You can see the icons by going to the AIM preferences and go to buddy icon. You can SEE the icons of your buddies but you cannot use them.

For those who downloaded the Install Idler program and double clicked on it and nothing happens, it may be a virus. You guys should download an anti-virus or a trojan detector to see if you guys have a virus/trojan because most trojans get on your computer that way.
If you want a good instant idler, I do not know why you would want one, but use Middleman if you want it to intergerate into you AIM, if not get GoodAIM which is posted here: https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13977

I dont think its possible, but another thing you can try to do is if theres only one buddy you’re concern with, have his IM open(minimized) so when your buddy signs on it will tell when he signs on and the time he signs on in the IM screen.
Get another program to clone your AIM.

Try using a program like Window Washer to clean out your temporary folder and stuff then try again, it may work.

I’m not sure what is wrong, but you may want to try to unchecking the box that hides the IM to see your messages rather than double clicking on the message. See if that will work, because it basically does that same thing.

I like the AIM service just not their AIM applications. They try to make it all “cool” with all these features. but the thing is, nobody really want the features, they just want a service so they can comunicate
You may need to download the .ocx, search on google and download it. Then add the file to you windowssystem32 directory. After that go to the start menu then run and type in “regsvr32 file” take out the “” and subsitute file with the name of the file.
