MemberOh btw, a good test to see if its working is to use a free proxy service to check on it. http://www.guardster.com/ is a good one. Type your WAN IP in there and see if it works. If it does, then the server is up, and in order to view your site you’ll need to type the IP assigned to you by the router to view your site.

MemberDid you route port 80 to the correct IP on your WAN?
If you did, its a good chance port 80 is blocked. I use port 1680 for my Apache and it works like a dream.
Your WAN IP doesn’t work for Apache usually. Type in your internal router address 129.168.x.x (<—example), then append the correct port (I use 1680, but if you use 80 then don't append it), and it should work

MemberMy old school had a crappy way of blocking student access to the school’s some 200 computers networked.
It was unbelievably easy to access and modify. All I had to do was type “My network places” in IE and do whatever I wanted from there.
Wonders to how lame the school security system is.

MemberNo, I can’t use port 80. My ISP blocks it for server use.
I took care of most of the problem. I forwarded it to port 1680. However, I still have one weird issue. I cannot view my own page when I type http://[My IP]:[Port]
Everyone else can view it, but me. I can only view it through a proxy. Any reason why?

MemberI use DC++ and WinMX for my downloading needs. Granted its not as good as other clients, but it has no spy-ware and does its job decently. Plus DC++ has a crap load of networks for me to choose from.

MemberYeah AIM is a problem nowadays. I have a lot of pals on the AIM network though, so I can’t afford to kill it just yet.
I use GAIM to access the AIM network, and since its all new code, its a whole lot less vulnerable to those things going around on AIM these days. (Or at least its been that way for me, and I’ve had GAIM for a good year or two now and I’ve never had a single problem.)
Try it, you might find it better than spywared AIM.

MemberDefinitely Try Mozilla Firebird. Its a very good replacement for that old piece of junk IE.
It comes with a very good popup blocker, and if you need even more protection you can download an extension for it that blocks even more ads.

MemberThis has never happened to me either. Maybe your buddies are using privacy settings to block screennames that aren’t on their list.

MemberI’ve had this problem before.
Goto Start—> Run —> msconfig
Check what is starting up with Windows. Some apps take a long time to load. Uncheck all the apps you really don’t need to load on startup.
Also goto services and deactivate the messenger service. You REALLY don’t need that for MSN messenger to work.
See if that helps.
