MemberThere is no way to merge two accounts like this.
You can’t delete and add either, once deleted a main account has gone for good.

MemberThere could be issues with incoming connections, because Yahoo! Voice uses UDP which is connectionless, your ISP will just see incoming packets from no established connection, this could make it look as though you are running a server, and ISPs don’t like this on residential lines, although I don’t know about any of these ISPs.

MemberI wrote most parts of the decoding/rendering that goes on behind the scenes, carbonize wrote the rest but I’m pretty sure it’s not got any limits.
I just checked your page shifter, it’s a different one, it’s not ours?
freddy
MemberI don’t think that will work while there is no YMSG access.

Memberf0rbez yes I do run the site.
Yeah, ad removal based on my info just removes the ad by pointing to a local file, it leaves the space. There is two reasons why this is good:
(1) messenger isn’t loading ads and using your connection – yahoo! started using flash ads which take longer to load
(2) some of the ads resized to half the screen, or if they couldn’t be found, they’d produce a full screen 404 with 2 lines of chat.In those cases, a small space in place of the ad didn’t matter. in 6, they realised a full 404 wasn’t good, and so if the file can’t be found, the space is hidden, and carbonize will do this, but still doesn’t fix your transition ad thing.
Y!Tunnel can fix that because it “hooks” into the messenger program while running, letting it inject code and listen to what’s going on.
I don’t know if anyone has tried looking in the program with a hex editor, maybe they can take it out. I haven’t looked.

MemberThis is because Yahoo! will no longer be providing chat to European users anymore. They have agreed with Lycos to point all European users to Lycos chat instead.
Lycos chat is nowhere near as good as Yahoo! despite the fact they say its the “most advanced chat community in europe”. It’s web based only, so no pretty interfaces, slow loading graphics (each room change needs new graphics). The adverts are in-vue (they appear over the chat room and obstruct your view) and there are also adverts that appear as normal chat comments.
When I say Europe, I mean: UK & Ireland, France, Germany, Italy and Spain
This change is currently being “beta” tested, you can go here to find out more: http://uk.docs.yahoo.com/chat/chatbylycos.html#1
The preview ends after 3 weeks, its been about 1 week already, when the preview ends, the changeover is permanent, no more Yahoo! UK & Ireland provided Chat.
To read my full comments on what I experienced with Lycos, read here: http://www.helpbytes.co.uk/lycos.php

MemberThat is true, but it still annoys people (i dont know why).
Someone also said it affected Y!Tunnel, again I have no idea why, cause I don’t use it.
freddy
MemberThere are at least Yahoo! Chat problems at the moment.

Member“Yahoo! Messenger 6,0,0,1671 Released
It’s released, what’s changed:FIXED:
1) Chat – The Chat screen now loads first time, with complete transition advert.
2) WebCam – You can again view a chat user’s webcam via right click.
3) IM – Incoming IMs no longer force an add/deny buddy screen.ONGOING:
1) Chatters List Scroll Bar – Randomly doesn’t work as expected – try dragging it!
2) Emoting a user still posts twice.

freddy
MemberYou could open an Instant Message (no need to type though) and click view cam from within there.
Or on the contacts menu, click “view webcam”.

MemberI only recommend
http://download.yahoo.com/dl/installs/ymsgr/ymsgr_1358.exe
It’s thought Yahoo! silently fixed a buffer overflow exploit in this version that existed in all previous to do with file names in the transfer.
freddy
MemberI don’t know, i’ve not seen others with this problem.
freddy
MemberNope.
If you just want messaging, put TIM onto a floppy disk.
If you are after chat too, put YahELite onto a floppy disk instead.
Both @ http://www.yahelite.org/deep/files/yahelite/
In addition to the limits on installing files, there could be limits on connections you make out of the network, so they may still fail.
