Ok, Thanks, Its not a connection problem and he does get a pop up message stating that the “Download was Interupted do you want to abort or retry”
I click on retry but no good.
He does not have DSL in his neighborhood yet and cant afford comcast at this time
I will look in this suggestion>> Windows Vista’s User Account Control, along with the lack of administrator permissions, actually can cause problems for people trying to install and use programs on a Vista computer.I will also turn off the user accounts.
However I will not be back on my friends pc until the Holiday week, he’s in another state. Mean while I would appreciate any and all idea’s in the future for this problem and I can check them all out when I get back on his pc, Thank You all. Tom
tomsbbbMemberDermot: Yes I saw them in the registry, I believe they are in a numbered sequence (like url’s) you have to replace the number before deleting!
Anyway, I found a small utility that does it for me, just download it from here and what you do is highlight the ones you dont want and replace them with ones you do or leave it blank. Here it is for those interested>>>tomsbbbMemberDermot:
Thanks, I have been trying to get an answer from them and they dont seem to reply for some reason!
I am sure this has happened to others, maybe someone who has had this problem in the past can shed some light on it?tomsbbbMemberOk, Thank You for the info.
tomsbbbMemberQuote>>I get a error message on this one account
What exact error message are you getting?
tomsbbbMemberYou said
I don’t think your problem has anything to do with the connection per say, but you should try a complete uninstall of Yahoo Messenger and download the latest version from the pinned thread in this section.
I will try it, Thanks, BTW, sorry it took so long to reply back, but at the time I did not think I could retrieve my email from aol once I quit them, but found out different now. Thanks Again
tomsbbbMemberThe connection is set at “No Proxies” thats what I always had it set on when I had Dial up. Is it suppose to be changed for DSL?
Also, I have the latest build 8.0, Thanks, TomtomsbbbMemberI just wanted to know if the Icon is just suppose to be a shortcut for Notepad and if it is what is the writting inside and can it be deleted so Edit the Notepad can be used? In order to delete it I would like to understand what it is I am deleting!
tomsbbbMemberYes I am using it, how do I get rid of it? Thanks
Edit: oK, I see how to uninstall gmail notifier, I will uninstall it and let you Guys know if it fixed it, Thanks
Edit: Yahooligan: You were right, I uninstalled the Notifier and it now back to normal. Thank You, and Thank ALL you all for your replies and help.tomsbbbMemberWillamlee: Also I just found this on there site, I dont know if it has anything to do with my problem or not, what do you think>>>
Gmail Tip #29: A Small Quirk With Gmail Notify’s ‘mailto:’ HandlerRead on to better understand a small idiosyncracy with Gmail’s Gmail Notifier application…
One cool feature of Gmail Notifier is that it can be configured to act as the default “mailto:” handler. When set up to do this. Gmail Notifier will open a Compose Window in a new browser window with the email address auto-filled in.
Just be aware that unless you check the “keep me logged in for two weeks” checkbox on the login screen, you will have to log in every time…even if you are already logged into Gmail in another browser window.
While it can be a bit cumbersom, it’s certainly worth the new features!

automatically sign me in when I click yahoo links in messenger. Yes, that is checked, Thanks
I was also looking around gmail settings and could not find anything, dont know how it is taking over my yahoo email, just in that part of messenger. Any other link takes me directly to my yahoo composing screen.
This is going to be one of those solutions that I will Frame before putting it into my tip collection. LOL
IF you come up with any more idea’s please dont hesitate to let me know?tomsbbbMemberIf you bring up your yahoo messenger screen, you will see the yellow envelope on same line as the phone (for calling IM) if you put your mouse up to it, it will read “Send An Email” (you must never have sent an email from here before) anyway, it goes right to google instead of the usual Yahoo composing screen!
I am using the newest version IE6sp2
The only thing that has been installed lately is Googel G-mail and thats when the trouble started!! ThankstomsbbbMemberThank You, Mora and Williamlee
But thats not it, thats the first thing I checked and its ONLY the Send Email button that brings up Gmail, if I click on “Send IM” to someone then the Yahoo IM screen comes up normally.
I always get this weird stuff, that no one else seems to get and is hard to figure out?tomsbbbMemberdjreg:
Could it be in her aol settings, privacy&security, she has accidently or purposely, blocked your name? That would show her offline to you?
Just a thought!
tomsbbbMemberI thought I Was on yahoo messenger support, I will move it there, Thank You
