MemberProfessor Unsakred –
First congratualtions on the latest version of Buddy Spy. It rocks both in terms of features and stability. A couple of suggestions for future updates follow:
1. It would be nice if there was an option such that the Scan History List only listed people who had actually been “online”. I mean think about it. Do you really need a record that someone was NOT online? You would know they were not online just due to the fact their name was not in the history list. With this modification it would be far easier to review an overnight log as to who had been online/in what room etc.
2. I do like the idea of having a wav file play when someone is online or has gone offline (per a previous post.) Would be great if you could associate different types of wav files with different screen names. You know one for friends, one for enemies, one for people who owe you money, etc. Also, please enable a feature to select that it only buzzes the first time some is detected logging on..or logging back in. The wav file thing could get old if you have a lot of friends that are always online and your computer keeps play a “jingle bells” wav file non stop.
3. Alias Screen Name Detector – this is of course the gold standard. I know that you have looked at this in the past and I include it here not to nag but to let you know that people would find it of interest. Does your research lead you to believe this feature is even feasible? Has anyone ever accomplished this feat? If you dont think it is, I’ll drop the issue and not raise it again! lol
Keep up the good work!

Ok, but how come that everyone in a chat room can see wheter you are idle or not?
Also, I think that the Scan History is a great plus. Unfortunately, it doesn’t list if someone has set his “mode” to invinsible. What about adding a short note that the users are currently in stealth mode when they choose to appear invisible?…the way that you can analyze your scan reports more effectively afterwards.
Anyway, you’re doing a great job, man.

MemberOk – perhaps this one is less relevant but still might be interesting:
Is there a way of getting the local time of the person being scanned?

Ok, perthaps I should rephrase.
There is no packet that I know of that you can send, to distinguish the users status.
Both the Chat Room / Buddy List setting, the user is sending the packet to all in the room and or on buddy list.
But for grabbing purposes I have never seen one.
Secondly, Buddy Spy does not distinguish between modes of status.
Its either online or not; The information the packets send back is not detailed enough to make such a distinction.

Not really know, the only feesible method I can think of, is sometimes a UNIX timestamp is sent back, other than that I dont believe so.

MemberHey Unsakred Buddy spy is awesome !!!
But i’d like to ask u something ..
Today i was scanning … and trying to use different scan option (e.g Invite packet , peer to peer etc.) but i found that in some cases the BS show offline for Invite packet ,Peer to peer and web check but for avataar packet it shows online ???what does this mean ?
pls explain !
thanks in advanceJune 26, 2005 at 5:39 pm #106536UnSaKreD
MemberLet me start out with, Thank you for your support and I am glad you like the program.
Secondly, as for your question regarding Scan Types.Avatar is experimental, and is not really suggested.
The more accurate Scan Type is p2p, although yes this too can be fooled.
Thirdly, as a general statement for Buddy Spy Users.
Currently Chat Scanning is not functioning due to Yahoo!’s ban on creating private rooms.
I do not know if and when they will lift this ban, and due to the sheer volume of users of Buddy Spy, there is no current fix available…

MemberI thought that AUTOMATIC SCANNING meant that a scan will be performed ever few minutes. However, that does not happen on either my XP or my Win2000 machines. Do I misunderstand the meaning of Automatic Scanning?

MemberI see now that the automatic scanning does work. Now, how do I CLEAR the scanning history?

MemberOk, although I dont use Buddy Spy much, but today I was playing with it and I realized that it says “online” for even offline ids. I had few of my other ids which were all offline but it detected them all as “online”. I noticed this last time when i used Buddy Spy (3 weeks back) and also today. Does any one else have the same problem and is there any fix for it?

You simply right click on your mouse while in scan history and a list of options comes up…Choose Clear and all the scan history shall be cleared.July 5, 2005 at 3:17 pm #106537UnSaKreD

I believe this issue was fixed/addressed in the 2.2.04 release
Buddy Spy’s current version is 2.2.05 [beta]
Problems that are currently in existance are primarily the Chat Scanning.
Which due to Yahoo’s closure of user created rooms stops the buddy spy bot from creating a user room and using it as a launch point for scans.

ParticipantI haven’t been able to test whether the latest buddy spy solves the issue with the cam history being reported as “offline” when it was “online”. Anyone know if this issue was addressed in the latest build?
