MemberUnSakred,
I have had a problem with scanning one buddy in particular. Sometimes I get a false positive reading. I rescan and it says offline. Scan again and it says online. This is the only person this seems to happen with. There is also another buddy with whom I know is online because it says so on my buddy list, however they are offline when I do a scan. This has occured with several versions of buddy spy. What gives? Why would certain profiles be prone to false readings and not others.

MemberKimmy,
Its not so much the profile but generally its the Messenger version, or possibly y! tunnel, since it blocks p2p.
Also, sometimes buddies on my list appear online, but truely arent.
Although, they are obviously online, if they type back to a message you sent. lolHope that helped

Memberthere is another possibility as to why they show on buddy list as online but show off line when you scan. they could be logged in to yahelite, yahoo game or chat and not logged on to their yahoo messenger. I have noticed this happen with buddies of mine. they are online in a game and I will be talking to them but yet a scan shows them as offline. I then log into yahelite and they are showing as online in games. other times they are showing on buddy list and show as not on when scanned. Yahelite says they are on and in chat. so either they are chatting on yahelite or they are maybe chatting via the yahoo site.
Hope this makes sence, never have been good at explaining things.

Memberjtuscano wrote:How do i change the column width, I can’t seem to figure it out.Move your mouse over the column headers, inbetween the spaces of Username,Webcam,Room,Time
Your mouse should change shape, and use that to drag it to your liking.

You are correct, different chat clients may not support the features buddy spy uses to scan for online activity.
And if they are in games, they technically are online, but i havent found a working yahoo games packet yet.(it is in the works)
I am working on version 2.2 of Buddy Spy now, which has 4 methods of checking.
The three that have been in before, but also the web check, since if its not hidden and they are in games, or another service, it will tell you if the user is online.

ParticipantUnsakred,
BuddySpy opens one socket, does it close the socket after each ID scan and open a new socket for the next ID or it keeps the same socket for the whole list?
CPU usage is 100% during each scan, this may be improved by removing unecessary loops.

Buddy Spy uses 2 sockets,
One constantly stays open, and needs to stay open for the YMSG protocol.
The second is for the webcam check, and it is closed after each scan.

MemberHi everyone,
I just released version 2.1.8,
It fixes alot of the p2p/avatar accuracy problems(for me anyway)
I also fixed a problem, when first installing and running Buddy Spy, the default scan method is now accurately set to peer to peer.
Thats it for now.
Any bugs, comments, suggestions(besides alias checker, lol im working on it)
Please leave a message here, or contact me through messenger/e-mail.. etc.. etc..

MemberHow about proper UPGRADE, instead of this REPAIR option that shows up when installing a new version?
Also, where is that new post scan menu?January 29, 2005 at 5:52 pm #106485UnSaKreD

MemberJust a quick note,
I will not be releasing any updates for 2.1, I have now switched my efforts fully into the release of 2.2.
I will be requesting beta testers, when I get a good stable build going.
I have basically rolled two projects into one, Buddy Spy will also feature my PacketLibrary project.
And for all you yahoo! vb programmers, it will be a must have.
If you have a bug, feature request or any of the like, please feel free to contact me.
