MemberI keep getting those too. Is it a virus on my computer, or is it a virus through the SNs? I guess I should just block people not on my list?

MemberThere’s another thing you can do for the link sys router, but I’m not home right now to figure out what it is. Next time I’m at home, i’ll let you know what it is.

Memberinteresting. apparently i’m wrong!

MemberI don’t think that there’s anyway to do that, and I think that if he keeps seeing the “You are Signed on in 2 Locations” thing, he might change his password. Just…fairwarning, you know? Other than that, there are programs that you can buy that allows you to log onto another computer from YOUR computer. Maybe that would help you? I’d do a google on what it’s called.

Memberi don’t understand the question.
you’re off of AIM, but you want to keep an away message up? isn’t the point of being off of AIM that you’re not…on…anymore?
badogg88
MemberMaybe the network is blocking the AIM ports? Do you have an IT department? Maybe they can help ya
badogg88
MemberActually, port forwarding could help. With my router, I kept getting signed off and on again. I changed the ports and it worked for me.
Thebiggster, do you have a router?
badogg88
MemberDid you try changing your connection port? I was having the same problem at my school….I changed my port and it works fine.
Go to “My AIM”, “edit options”, “edit preferences”, “Sign on/Sign off” then “connection” and you should see a port # there that is 5190. Try putting in 21 instead, then click ok, sign off and sign back on.
If that doesn’t work, like you can’t get back on AIM…while the little AIM guy is down by where your clock is, right click that and go to preferences, and then click reset. You can keep trying different port #s and see if that works.
Good luck!

MemberI FIXED IT!
I guess with the Linksys router, you have to open the ports yourself. I don’t really know how to explain this, but if you have a linksys router, you can go to their website, and then to “Support” “Technical Support” and then to the Knowledge Database. From there, type in “How to open ports”, and it will give you an example for opening the ports you need.
I searched the AIM website, and the ports are: 1024-5000.
After I did this and restarted my computer, it was fixed! I’ve been on AIM now for an hour with no problem. Before, I would be on AIM for 2 minutes and I’d get signed off.
I hope I helped anyone who can’t seem to fix it!

MemberOk, I tried downloading a new version. I tried using an old version. I tried port 21, port 4000, port everything. I reset my router. I’ve done everything and nothing works. It’s getting really frigging annoying. Seriously, no one knows? Even AOL lags. I don’t have any other messengers, nor do I ever plan on having any others. Please help!

MemberI am having the same problem with my linksys router. I have a question though….
On my old desk top, I had the same problem. I had an external linksys wireless adapter on that computer. On my new laptop from Dell, I have the Dell wireless card in my computer. Do I have to download the firmware on MY computer as well, or just the computer that the router is installed on?

MemberI loaded the new version of AIM as well as the Beta version, and it still didn’t work…
Any other ideas? I’m hopeless 🙁

MemberWell, I have a linksys router, and every 3-5 minutes or so, I get bumped off of AIM. It’s not really that it’s slow, it just freezes up and then kicks me off. Does anyone know why? It’s frustrating! 😡
badogg88
Memberis this the same problem as with the linksys router?
badogg88
MemberHas anyone found a solution to this problem? It’s so annoying!! Every 3-5 minutes (unless I use AIM constantly), I get booted and then I get back on. It’s justu really annoying. Help!!
