MemberDepending on what version of Windows you’re using, you should check the running programs:
In Windows 95/98 you press Ctrl + Alt + Del while no program windows are active (easiest is by minimizing them all) and you’ll get a pop-up window with all running programs.
Check if there’s anything there that could be using the webcam.
If so, end the program (click on it and then click the “End Task” button). In Windows 2000/XP you press Ctlr + Alt + Del while no programs windows are active (easiest is by minimizing them all) and on the pop-up you choose Task Manager.
There you check in the Applications tab if there are any programs running that could be using the webcam.
If so, end the program (click on it and then click the “End Task” button).
Best not to mess with the processes tab unless you’re comfortable with what you’re doing…Also, if you could give the brand and type of webcam you’re using it’d be easier to get some extra information about the thing. Maybe it’s just not compatible with MSN Messenger, or there might be something extra that you have to do to get it to work 🙂

MemberYou don’t need XP for MSN Messenger. Just don’t use the Start Video Conference option but both parties start their webcams and audio seperately. True, it’s not ideal, but according to you neither is NetMeeting 😉

MemberYou could try reinstalling Netmeeting to see if that’ll set Netmeeting to the default program to load.

MemberHave you checked that the checkbox for “This is a shared computer so don’t store my address book, display picture, or background on it.” is unchecked on the Privacy tab in the Options window?

MemberIf you want to get download counts and need to have people register for that, you should make clear (in other words: put it on the pages) that in order to download people have to register. Then also put that on the information page for the images and remove the icons that say “download”. It’s just not clear the way it is now.

MemberI’d say: get rid of the right-click blocker (it’s useless anyway) and see if you can do what MSN has done on the page that detn8r gave the link of. Or make premium images that only members can get and show “regular” images to guests too.
There are so many possibilities that it’s not even funny anymore 😉

MemberIt doesn’t say anything about signing up before you can download the images, which will make a lot of people turn away. Signing up is something I don’t like doing in the first place, especially if it’s for something that I don’t use (or go to) often.
Edit removed 😉

MemberThat fun Jeff, just too bad the images can’t be downloaded without getting to the source code and then getting the direct link to the images that way…

It’s not the question but the action you asked about that I find indecent. But who gives a poop what I think, right?

MemberAll I can say is that if someone were to do something like that, I’d find out soon enough and would block them right away no matter who it is. If you don’t have the decency to ask if you can add the other person to your buddy list, you’re not worth chatting with. At least that’s the way I see it.

MemberI know what you mean, and I have to say I never used any kind of software to download MP3s, though I have “illegally” downloaded some MP3s to see if I wanted to get an entire CD just for a couple songs. Those MP3s have all been deleted once I decided on that.
My point is that people don’t want to buy a 12-song CD for just one or two songs. If there’s no legal option available they’ll either borrow someone’s CD and copy that (also illegal as you know), or download the songs from the internet. So basically unless you live somewhere where you can get songs legally, you have no legal options other than shelling out the money and ending up stuck with a dozen songs that you didn’t even want.Talking about illegal activities: record companies are trying with all their might to prevent copying of CDs. What ever happened to the right to make a copy of your CDs for personal use?Don’t mind this. It’d only take the topic off track 🙂FrutZle
MemberLooks like a shout box might do what you want: http://shoutbox.sourceforge.net/
There are several “flavors” of those kinds of scripts, so do a google if you want more links 🙂FrutZle
MemberWhat speed is your internet connection? It’s possible that there’s just not enough bandwidth for the audio to get transferred at the same speed all the time if your connection can’t handle it.
