Or you could make another email address, and slowly transfer all your email contacts to your new account – Then send out one mass email letting everyone know your email addy has changed.
Mac_BlueMemberI’m using 8.1. Never had any problems before the other night. Why? Is there something in this newer version that has bugs in it?
Mac_BlueMemberIt seems now I can get into my email, about half an hour ago, but before that and most of the evening was a no-go.
My friend apparently (I think) was getting my IM’s but I wasn’t receiving any. Hopefully whatever the problem is, will get fixed.
Thanks for replying!
Mac_BlueMemberI take it your friend met that “guy” online first?
Honestly, I would get the IP addy of that guy, report him and also get the police involved. He is threatening her, make sure she has logs of their conversations/emails. And let Yahoo know what has happened.
Mac_BlueMember8.0.0.716 is the one I’m using. I like this one because I have friends on WLM I can now talk to..
Is it worth updating to 8.1? If so, why?

Mac_BlueMemberDoes IE 7 work with windows 98?
Mac_BlueMemberI got it late lastnight. Found a backup of my old drive, and took it from there.
Thanks for your help!
PS I dumped my yahoo backup folder and thought all was okay, but didn’t check the yahoo alert..(blush) before I dumped the folder.
Mac_BlueMemberIs the computer in her room? If so, remove it and put it somewhere closer to where you all hang out in the evenings. This way if something weird is going on, you’ll be able to tell if she’s acting odd. Or, install a keylogger that captures everything she does on the computer.
Is there something she’s doing online or are you just wanting to know what she’s talking about with her friends?
Maybe limit her time online to half an hour a day, or afew times a week.
Mac_BlueMemberHey, all I’m looking for (if anybody can help me) is the original email alert sound. It worked fine in the beta version but now since I downloaded regular verison 8, I can’t get my email sound alert as it was before..
Thanks inadvance.
Mac_BlueMemberOkay, I downloaded it, got all my settings correct…Only thing now is, my email alerts! The sound isn’t right. I can’t remember the sound.wav file that I need so I can have the same sound alert as before, all I know is the one that is set up now sucks! I thought it was POW, but it isn’t. I think those who use yahoo know that alert sound I’m talking about?? Hopefully? Anyway, if anybody know how I can get that sound working please let me know.
I’ve written Yahoo using the help in my email, so hopefully they’ll get back to me about this.
Mac_BlueMemberThanks so much Dermot.
I’ll do this tonight…I may be back, hopefully with no problems!
Mac_BlueMemberThanks alot!
I don’t know why I get freaked about this sort of thing, I know it’s on the server, and I won’t lose my contacts…Blahkk…lol.
So I can either click on the above link or go directly to yahoo.com and download yahoo IM version 8, right?? After I uninstall the beta verison…
(Ok, you all can laugh, I know some about computers, but always double check before doing something just incase!)
Mac_BlueMemberThanks!
Do I have to uninstall it? Will it make a difference? My husband seems to think (though he’s not an IM’er type of person) that I don’t have to uninstall it, just download the newer version to replace the beta version. And, I won’t lose any contacts if I uninstall it will I??
Mac_BlueMemberHey, it’s too bad they haven’t come up with that for Yahoo users, to find out who was last seen and the time on the contact list.
