Ok thank you, both your stories contradict, but I think that RabidKitten has more experience. Should I ask AOL, or do I not want to go to that level?
Maybe it is just that it isn’t going away on your computer. Maybe you just see it. I have a similar problem with buddy icons from badassbuddy.com. They just stop moving. Do your friends tell you that you still have the water droplet, or is it just you?
I have had this problem before. I don’t know if this will help, but go ahead and try it anyway. It won’t hurt your computer. When the box comes up, you type in under e-mail address your screename@aol.com, like you have been doing. Then, under Pop3 server, you can try AOL’s FTP address, which I think is http://ftp.aol.com. Anyone have a follow up?
Someguy is right. If you are using a cheap mail service like hotmail or yahoo, look inside the junk mail folder and see if it is put there. If that doesnt work, and you aren’t using a hotmail or yahoo address, get one, and have AOL send it to there.
I’m sure that AIM gets a lot of requests for new screennames every day. YOu jsut sort of have to wait.
Max is exactly right. Sometimes, when I am feeling stupid, I go upstairs and use the computer, but I forget to turn off AIM downstairs. It just means that you have AIM signed on at two different computers…but you already knew that. Call your friends, check your other computers if you have them. You can also call AOL if it is signed on and it is at a place that you don’t know.
I also have the same hardware on my computer, but I have a wireless-G. Are you sure that it is the router that is causing the connection problem? We had the same problem, not with AIM, but with the whole internet connection, and we had started with a Belkin router, and finally we switched to Linksis, with a Belkin router on the main computer. Either try reinstalling the software, or reinstating the connection between the two computers. Are you using the latest version of AIM?
