MemberICQ2000x works, ICQ99 and prior doesn’t work. And there’s a group chat feature in ICQ5.

MemberYeah, I recommend this site. If you want to know how you protect your valuable UIN or how to regain a stolen UIN, these guys would know.
Some may be apprehensive since they also speak about stealing UINS, or at least they did in the past, but if you see how stealing UINs is done, then you also know how to protect yourself.

MemberI assume you’re on ICQ5. If so, get to the Login screen and uncheck the “I am a guest on this computer.” To get to the Login screen, you can get there from the main menu through “Logout user.”
As for history, you can go to Preferences then Saving Option and check the “Save history” checkbox. You may also need to his the “Reset all users’ history to current saving state” and that should begin to save all new history. I believe all old history is lost, but you can check anyway where the ICQ5 history is saved which is
C:Documents and SettingsShmankyApplication DataICQLiteHistoryDB
and see if it’s there.
Or maybe you’re using ICQ2003b, in which case nothing of this applies to you :p

MemberDon’t need to, there are existing packs that will use the native client emoticons in Trillian. Check out http://jiquera.lanpics.com/trillian/ or http://www.ceruleanstudios.com

MemberHave a look at an ICQ clone called Miranda [ http://www.miranda-im.org/ ]. It has tons and tons of plugins that may provide the functionality you are looking for.

MemberSorry Nafcom, I meant it the way herberg2 understood it. I figured I would just take the chance and say it was the first time RSS feeds were integrated into Internet Explorer since I haven’t seen any third-party application do it before, but it looks like http://www.pluck.com/ can do it, so that is at least one. So I can either edit my original article or people can read these comments for alternative applications.

MemberOkay. You mentioned not being able to find a chat partner from the USA. Are you implying that you can readily find people from Europe and Asia? It is apparent to me that over the last 4 years, ICQ users in North America have been switching away from ICQ to primarily MSN Messenger, and also Yahoo! Messenger. But ICQ is still popular among Europe and Asian users.
You mentioned spam. Are you receiving instant messages containing spam, like, “Visit my WebCam site: http://tripod…” or are you receiving authorization requests asking you to add the person to your contact list? I’m afraid the spam problem on ICQ is ongoing. Since ICQ’s developers took effective steps to eliminate incoming spam in the form of regular messages, ICQ spammers are now exploiting authorization requests to push their spam. To avoid the authorization request spam you can disable Web Aware in Preferences / General.
Okay. I think that mostly covers your concerns about ICQ.

MemberIt works great! A couple things I am trying to point out in my 3 shots. In the first show you can see that I was able to log in just fine. In the third shot you can see if I deselect “fit to screen,” the horizontal scrollbar is long because the lines extend to the right.. which is fine because fit to screen is on by default. The second shot is this thread, with fit to screen enabled. I was going to half the size of the shots, but I thought the larger shots were more clear and potentially more helpful.
Oh yeah, my Pocket PC’s screen resolution is “QVGA,” or 240×320, not VGA 480×640 as modern Pocket PCs are.

July 9, 2005 at 11:03 pm in reply to: how to RE-ADD a contact without the notification from msn to that person? #125805Shmanky
MemberIf the other person still has you on their contact list, then when you add that person again they will not get a notification, because they already have you on their list. You can check if they have you on their list from Privacy settings.

MemberDoes the ICQ crash report a number? If so, search for it here: http://www.icq.com/help/

Memberis it kind of redundant having the text under our name say “advisor” and then the badge also say “advisor?” Maybe we can just change the textual tag to something personalized.

Memberwow, does single message windows exist anywhere anymore? The best you can get with ICQ is the option to automatically close the window after the message is sent.
