If anything its the chat client, open up a packet sniffer and you will see all the data. SO its not a protocol or even a server issue.
Generally speaking this type of problem is due to not enough memory.
You could try editing the color preferences via yahoo! messenger to only do black text w/ your font of choice.So open up messenger, go to the preferences window and then click on apperance on the left. Select always use my fonts and colors, then put your font as (arial or tahoma or verdana or times) on black
They actually never went away, you could always create them, but when using a yahoo chat client, they would feed you some error, and then by clicking OK you would exit the room. just an fyi lol

Just an FYI if you are running an older version of IE, they can change the address bar to reflect photos.yahoo.com.

Most bans are usually username or IP based, however if the booting program supports SOCKS 5 proxy you can bypass the ban. Its good to see Yahoo! starting to slim down its protocol stack, and hopefully devote more time to securing its YMSG protocol.

its hard to say at this point what changes they will do, but im thinking a login change may be onroute too.
It wouldnt surprise me if they werent getting ready to do another protocol update, to YMSG 14, im not really familiar w/ MSN protocol but i know most of the features set are identical. By instituting a new encryption scheme for login, it would effectively cut chat spam for about 24 hours lol

I would imagine the network downtime at the moment is to fix a lot of network errors and new additions most needed… included the network handling MSNP13/14.
YCHT has been dying a slow death from yahoo! for years, they just finally removed it.
I thought that Yahoo!’s Chat 2.0 used some form of YCHT for its connectivity, at least it used too. Is that now a YMSG protocol?
They most likely killed it to help w/ spam bots as well as the merger w/ MSN.
Just to clarify a few questions I have been getting.
Release Candidates are the newest versions of Buddy Spy, but are
*unstable*They are meant explicitly for beta testing.
Secondly: Buddy Spy does not / can not view what/who people are talking to/about.
My guess is they are starting to slowly phase out the YCHT protocol. Especially considering their merger w/ MSN earlier.

Secondly, sometimes you will experience these problems and generally they are something Yahoo! is doing and will go back to normal w/ in a few hours.
The Current Version however is 2.2.11 RC 3(release candidate 3)
