could this perhaps be a cleartype problem?
Simply run both programs, the display image grabber just copies your friends display images to a temp directory.
Usually this is caused by the user giving you an alias, or running the webcam on an alias id /sub profile id.
In answer to your question, no there is no way to determine if you have been scanned. Although as sunflowers has stated, Yahoo! has been working on their stealth mechanism and is experiencing several glitches.
Problem is Yahoo!’s integration with their addressbook, I would first login and remove the entry from the addressbook then go to http://messenger.yahoo.com/edit/ and remove them from the buddy list.
They actually have been doing this method for a while, you would connect to webcam.yahoo.com then it spits out the actual server, nothing really new with connection scheme here except that they changed the resulting servers.

as soon as you pmed him on a certain protocol he can retrieve all your aliases as they are all sent in the pm packet.
booters that wanted to “boot” cloaked id’s would use this method.
same with yahelite..if your id is janedoe12345 and your alias is janedoe54321
it will say jandoe12345 is typing in the marquee alert but i would actually be talking to janedoe54321.
however i wont go into specifics, if you’re afraid your password may have been compromised then change it.
however i will stress how people can get all alises has been known a long time.

To effectively counter Buddy Spy currently you need to login w/ Firewall No Proxies, the draw back however is not being able to use webcam or voice.
Ignoring the user wont stop them from using buddy spy on you, since buddy spy uses a bot(throw away id) to do its scanning.

Yes,there are but thats not scripted minds dllYou wont send out the same thing everytime the challenge is different per login attempt. There are loads of login examples, YMSG 13 however is a bit different in 12 for authentication and such.
I havent seen too many good YMSG 13 examples or protocol docs.
