If your friend’s sound card has multi-channel capabilities, she could have it set to allow a wave input device which would explain your being able to hear her system sounds. Have her check her mixer settings and turn off any that are not needed.
It would be helpful if you could give the exact error message you are getting when you try to broadcast.
Once Yahoo is aware of pages like that, they are usually closed immediately, so I am not surprised the page is giving an invalid message. It is not the first nor will it be the last.
You are taking risks when you click links that you see in PM, or in chat. Losing a passoword is bad enough, but you can also get trojans (like Aplore) and spyware that causes all sorts of chaos.
Chat smart, don’t click a link until you know what it is, or why someone posted it!
Have you thought about using a messenger that only allows messaging? I have used a barebones (no audibles, imvironments, etc) messenger called TIM (Tiny Instant Messenger) to PM with my Yahoo friends. It is available here http://yahelite.org/client I am sure if you search there are other programs available also.
While it could be problems with connections or permissions, it could just be Yahoo being… well Yahoo… It seems many people are reporting problems lately of trying to add/delete contacts or change their info and yahoo is not remembering the changes.
The important part is if Yahoo Messenger is allowing you to send/receive messages even if the people’s names are not exactly what you would prefer to see. Don’t stress the small stuff 😉
Yahoo seems to be limiting the number of changes you can make to your friends list each day. Probably when you try to delete all your friends, the number of changes exceeds the limit Yahoo has set, so it does not accept the change.
Why not create a new name, then give your new name to the people you do want to stay in contact with?

I think that the user set his nicname to be the “<iframe…" which is how they gave the appearance of being logged in with that name.
Maybe Yahoo is still filtering it if you send it as a post, but neglected to filter it if it was a username/nicname. yTunnel really does not give much protection so I am not surprised it did not help. Users of several chat clients (I can’t speak for all of them) would not have been affected.
The patch will only help those who update. Many computer users are woefully behind on their updates but maybe this will inspire them to stay updated.
Have you tried logging in using that same computer and account again immediately after you get that message? It sounds like Yahoo did not think you had logged off the last time the account was used.
I rather like Yahoo’s decision to give everyone the opportunity to control who is in their room by the use of the ignore button. Unfortunately as with many things in life, some people will always try to have the illusion of power. All we can do is fight back by not letting them have power over us.
As experienced chatters know, ignoring the lamers and turning off PMs/Invites goes a long way to helping reduce the booting even if you are using messenger. Using a chat client generally increases the boot protection level, and some offer an additional feature where you can ‘send’ your voice to another room, allowing you to talk to your friends (assuming they are also using a client that supports the /vj command) without getting hassled by lamers/bots/booters and others of that ilk.
Remember, Yahoo Chat is only one small area of Yahoo and as it is provided as a ‘free’ service one can only guess that there is not a high priority placed on its development. Yahoo does patch and fix the exploits that are used for booting, but occassionally in patching one area new exploits are created or old ones re-opened, so be careful what you wish for.
Did you go into a private room all by yourself to practice? If you did, the bleeping is because Yahoo does not allow you to talk to yourself.
