I agree with Seph, Junkie – I cannot understand your question either.
(I mean, for a start, there is NO such program as “MSN Live Messenger”! No wonder we get confused/puzzled.)The reason you’ve never had a satisfactory answer, I reckon, is that you don’t ask your question sensibly.
We are not mindreaders. Please try again π
Eagle_KiwiMemberHey there Twisted – that Casper only ever posted once here on BBB, and that was over 4 YEARS AGO.
I really doubt if he’s still interested πJanuary 4, 2007 at 11:18 am in reply to: Welcome Two New BigBlueBall Staff Members, a Promotion (and a farewell) #156041Eagle_KiwiMemberCongrats Stig, and Philip. π
I’m surprised, yet not surprised at all. You both deserve this, and I hope you’ll enjoy the further challenges. And Jon, like Tea Granny I haven’t had much interaction (apart from recently tracking you down geographically π ) – but I wish you good luck in your new role too.
Tiger – congratulations on having made a hard decision. I hope you won’t suffer withdrawal symptoms too badly, and yes, hope to keep in touch occasionally anyway.
Cheers for the future – and thanks for the past. Nice to know you.Eagle_KiwiMemberTkey – I’d suggest it’s pretty much the same as “finding a grirlfriend” (or boyfriend) !
The harder you TRY, the worse your chances.
But when/if you STOP “trying”, just relax and do things simply to help others rather than in order to get a reward for yourself, then rewards will probably come your way. π(And I for one give plenty of “reputation” around here, where I feel it’s merited, but don’t think I’d ever give it to someone who so blatantly ASKS for it. That’s just not the point.)
Eagle_KiwiMemberHi there, and Welcome to BigBlueBall, Cryssa π
Have you gone to File, Export in your old version, and exported all mail and address to 2 files, which you then move to the new PC, then IMPORT there ?

Congrats!
uh… IMHO? I’m sure everybody else knows but me…Oops, sorry Soccer. π
Probably hopefully just “most” people around here know them – not ALL of them by any means, but at least perhaps a few more common ones, e.g. LOL, BRB, TTYL, TTFN, etc.Anyway, thanks to Det we can now all learn a bit more π (I didn’t know that BBBpage was there either!).
Eagle_KiwiMemberDeserved, IMHO, Stig !
Glad to have you around.
Cheers. πEagle_KiwiMemberThanks for that heads-up, George. π
I don’t use Terraim often, but I’m really glad to have it available for quick use sometimes. In upgrading now, again I’m really struck by the simplicity, cleanliness, and ease of both the website and the program itself! A true delight to work with (as I’ve even told my friends π )
Eagle_KiwiMemberExcellent! Glad it’s fixed, and thank you for putting your solution in here – that may not work for everyone, but at least it may be useful for the next ones who may pass this way. π
Eagle_KiwiMemberHi Amanda.
I agree with Spike, that uninstalling IE7 is probably best only as a last resort, but anyway, mine is in Add/Remove Programs (in Control Panel) under “W” – Windows Internet Explorer 7 !!
(Don’t worry, took me a bit of searching too, under I, then M, etc etc π )Let’s know if you still can’t find yours there.
Eagle_KiwiMemberOk Razzle, well that’s all helpful for eliminating some obvious possibilities. π
A couple of other possibilities occur to me – are you on dialup or broadband, and IE6 or IE7 ?May I suggest you carefully peruse THIS earlier thread on the subject, especially the posts from Netti and Dermot – and let’s know if any suggestions there help.
Good luck.
Eagle_KiwiMemberREVISITED:
It seems the program IS “working”, but may have server overload(?) problems making results sporadic.
Online version: After many further tries I’ve managed to make contact, then indeed it DOES load my friends from those networks.
Then for voice/video it appears to use an Adobe Flash Player applet (if that’s the term) opening in my browser, running via “web.imserver.net”.
It offers the same to my buddy, then when he Accepts then indeed it DOES allow good quality voice, just one-on-one, and in a very simple and comfortable form !However on tests I’ve tried with 4 buddies on YM, 3 came up with their reporting “server busy, try later” – it was only 1 where I achieved contact.
And video looks like a similar system, which I’ve not been able to fully test yet.
Offline version: Apparently the connection with IMVite may be that both these programs use a file called itLoad.exe – so perhaps Instan-T “found” that file on my PC, so thought that was its home !?
So maybe it WOULD install/work fine for those who DON’T already happen to have IMVite installed ?Also, there’s a similar program called Praize that contains itLoad.exe, simply because I figure it’s a customised version OF the base instan-T program.
Eagle_KiwiMemberHi Razzle.
I doubt if anyone can solve a problem with such skimpy detail – tell us also a million other obvious details, e.g. what sound card do you have, is your sound ok on other programs, what version of XP are you (is it SP2), what EXACTLY happens, and what EXACTLY have you tried already to fix it, what if any firewall do you use, ditto for antivirus ?And, from your title, I wonder if it is only Yahoo AUDIBLES that don’t work for you, or does your problem cover voice chat as well ?
Eagle_KiwiMember@razzle51 212538 wrote:
what chat rrom are you talking about . I thought yahoo doesnt have chat rooms anymore
They still do (though I’m not sure if they’re now age-restricted?).
In YM, click Messenger, Yahoo Chat, Join a Room – then choose a room, wait a few moments and you should be in it. (Works for me anyway, not that I use such public garbageholes π )Eagle_KiwiMemberNow 2 years after that post, I‘ve come across this program which allegedly lets you contact your AIM/ICQ/MSN/YM buddies, not only by text but also VOICE and VIDEO !
As it’s still mentioned on at least one “IM” site in 2006, I tried it:-
PLAN A – the “online” version, here. It wouldn’t let me access those networks until I made an Instan-t account, which I did (it wanted only an ID, password, and email address).
I was surprised to receive no confirmation, either in browser or via my email address (and I have no spam filter/blocker at all on that address).
So anyway I then tried logging in there to Instan-t. It hung my browser, every time, for at least 10 minutes! when I gave up – simply saying
Waiting for http://express.instan-t.com/myim/start.aspx…
So, PLAN B – try their “downloadable IM client”, available HERE.
The 6.4MB file ITSetup.exe downloaded fine, and installed fine.*The installation gave a nice green/black “t” desktop icon – but trying to open/run this came up with nice logo saying “loading v4.6” but then immediately with this (titled “eiLoader”)
Error In: EILoad.LoadEI – 25 – File not found, 0 – 0 –
Oddly it initially decided its install location would be the folder of my “IMVite” program, which I installed and tested many months ago, but haven’t touched since. (Of course I took its alternative of choosing my own location).
BUT, why would that be ??
I SPECULATE – that Instan-t (based in Uruguay!) promised what no other program can do, 4-way interoperability INCLUDING video and voice – and in fact couldn’t deliver, so gave up !? – and have “reinvented” themselves as IMVite (based in Barbados!) – a program I’ve tried, and appears to work, but (along with Gaim, Meebo, all the others) does NOT make any claims about voice and/or video.
Anybody got any further info/ideas ? -
