The sneak peek looks very interesting, but on dialup it’s virtually useless 🙁
Anyone know from where I could download it first, then view the whole thing smoothly ?Comment: From what I see, looks very much like a SKYPE conference format .
Eagle_KiwiMemberSounds good!
Mine’s the same now, and that IS indeed “the latest” at this time I think it came out about a week ago). Thanks for reporting back, Biddy.
I hope that – like me – you’re happy with the issue now. 🙂Eagle_KiwiMemberMaybe not a full “solution”, but I’ve found a workaround for each case might be:
If your “Add Request Pending” persists, wait till both parties are online at same time, then delete then re-add the other person.
This has worked for me at times for most versions over the last year or two.Eagle_KiwiMemberPosted by TechCrunch on Today, 08:10 PM
“Late last week I got on the phone . . . .Did YOU write this article, TechCrunch ?
It would appear that you did, but when I dig deeper I find “Nick Gonzalez” shown in the same article on your site.
If indeed it WAS written by him (whoever he might be) then you should show that clearly here – instead of passing this off as your own.Eagle_KiwiMemberHmmmm…..ok…… MAYBE !?
But it doesn’t say much for your big post, I’m afraid. Don’t you CHECK such things at all before rushing into print ?
That’s why such posts probably make life HARDER for the staff here, rather than easier. 🙁
ANYWAY, my FURTHER (initial!) testing seems to indicate that the “myID” bit DOES work, if used FROM the USA, but perhaps NOT if used from elsewhere. Still only very preliminary results, but that’s my “hunch” at the moment.
Eagle_KiwiMemberI guess I feel similarly, that BBB seems hard-pressed to keep things together and up to date as it is – expanding into others would spread the available resources even thinner still.
AND personally I still can’t find my way around all the countless threads/links/shortcuts etc here – heaven forbid if there were even MORE ! 🙁
Eagle_KiwiMemberI tried it with a friend’s ID too, same result.
And yes, of COURSE it looks as though it wants a phone number – that’s why I’m highly dubious about the original format you post:
ymsgr:call? Example: ymsgr:call?myid
Seems to me a Yahoo ID in there is quite useless (no matter how that user’s Yahoo Contact Details are set up) – so it HAS to be a hard-coded phone number, which (A) might only work when used FROM certain country/countries, and (B) would require the webpage user to not only have YM, but ALSO to have PC-to-Phone (“PhoneOut”) enabled – i.e. PAID for! – on their YM.
All of which seems of incredibly little value !?
Can I ask where you got this info from, Chris – as it seems so “suspect” !?
Eagle_KiwiMemberOk, thanks, it sure works now . . . but . . . the actual CALL doesn’t seem to work!
I see that the selection of which button depends on whether the target person is online or not, but either way the Call starts, but then bombs out with Could not Connect to, and then a very strange long number, no relation to the actual home OR mobile number of the person!Has anyone ever USED this particular gizmo successfully ??

Hi Chris.
That looks a handy bunch of stuff for sure – but I seem to find the quoted html above doesn’t work for me (and yes, I inserted my ID in the 3 places).
Would you mind rechecking it (perhaps especially the part I’ve made bold?) in case there’s a > or a ” or something misplaced ?Eagle_KiwiMemberThanx Jeff.
Fine now. 🙂Eagle_KiwiMemberHi there Hypno.
I use HyperIM which certainly works beautifully for countdowns on my YM, and as far as I can see it includes a similar “status-changing” feature for WLM.(THIS thread there refers to WLM, but is probably obsolete now, as I see a note there that that “plugin” is now built-in to the main program).
Perhaps worth your checking out ?And if you do, please let’s know here if it does or doesn’t for sure, for the sake of those who browse past here later.

… Just an FYI. When I upgraded from 7.5 to 8, WLM actually signed in faster. Maybe things are a bit different in this part of the world :p …
Interesting! I’ve no firm data, but that’s certainly my impression here too – 7 and 7.5 were extremely slow loading (much worse than the other IM progs I use) but suddenly since 8 it’s speeded up considerably, to about the same speed as my ICQ, Skype, YM, etc etc.
Eagle_KiwiMemberONLINE version – Revisited AGAIN!
I tried again today – with both Opera 9.10 AND with Firefox 2.0.0.1 this dumb instan-t said:This application is optimized to Internet Explorer 6 and Mozilla Firefox 1.5, please update your browser.
(I think they need to update their ideas a bit – the world moves on!)
But with my IE7-based SlimBrowser it at least opened, but simply would not connect, either to MSN or ICQ or YM – after waiting about 10 min I got an IE message:
Connection Lost. Possible reasons: Network Down, Server Down, or Duplicated Login.
Later I DID manage to connect to ICQ and MSN (but YM continually “login failed”) AND managed to voice, very clearly, with a friend on ICQ. But gee, a very “hit and miss” affair. 🙁
Eagle_KiwiMemberHi there RS.
Firstly, have you confirmed those results with TWO DIFFERENT buddies ? Until/unless you do that then the whole problem could (despite his protestations!?) be at your buddy’s end. Also, have you run the Call Setup (under Actions) and did it show everything working ?
And further, if you can’t talk/hear your buddy using voice conference, try him in a direct CALL instead – that uses different audio, so may give different results.
Let’s know the results, and we can go from there.
Eagle_KiwiMember? I just tried that Web Messenger link now – it’s working fine for me here.
(Maybe they’ve fixed it!?)Hmmmm, I just tried the 2nd link – it too seems to go where it should, for me, now.
