MemberDear Jeff,
I do not think the source of the problem is because of NAV or Office XP. I used NAV2004, NAV2005, Office XP, Office 2003 with different combinations before without any problems.
And as for the NOD32, it is a decent antivirus program, very fast indeed, the fastest I might say but overall at detecting viruses, trojan, malware, etc. is not that good. I would grade NAV a 90% detection rate & NOD32 72%.

MemberHi Hurricane,
I don’t think there are any free partition program out there that you can use without destroying all of your data. If you willing to destroy your data then you can use the “Fdisk” program that came with the old Windows/DOS or the setup program in WinXP/2000/2003.
Btw, EEDOK, I think Hurricane is referring to Windows, not LINUX.

MemberHi Pacific,
You might want to check for “??erinit.exe” one more time. It looks like it is still in your computer under c:windowssystem32. Sometimes it might be hidden so check “Show hidden files and folders” under “Tools” => “Folder Options” => “View” tab. You can manually remove it in Safe Mode if Normal Mode doesn’t work or remove through the HiJackThis program.
The reason I said this is because your log still shows that file name on it.
Come back if you still have problems, we glad to help you =)

MemberYou’re welcome Oreo =)
Good luck on your studies and tests, let me know the results okay? 😉
P.S: Take it slow, don’t try to rush through the study guides, hands-on and try to memorize as much as possible…that’s my advice =P

MemberDear Oreo,
First of all, if you want to learn and pass the test without going broke is by buying books ($40+) on the MS Cert topic that you want. Then buy the simulation tests package from Transcender or its study guides ($200+). They all provides good quality information as well as let you feel what exactly going to be like in a real exam. (The test questions are different of course) but the way you take the test is the same.

MemberPossibly a new malware program. You can upload it into a temporary free server and give us the link so we can further analyze it or just copy it into a different drive and delete it. I’m not 100% sure about this program until I actually have it, but 80% I would say it is not something that should be there.

MemberHi fetus,
It looks like you have tried all the solutions from those who posted earlier, but have you try my solution yet? I’m just wondering =P
If you have problems opening IE, try to right click it and choose properties, that should get you into its Internet Properties, you can also use the Control Panel to get in.

MemberDear fetus,
You do not provide enough information to give a very positive answer, but here what you might want to try.
1) Click the Tools menu on your Internet Explorer toolbar and select Internet Options.
2) Click the Security tab.
3) Click the Internet (globe) icon and click the Custom Level button or Default Level button.
4) Scroll down to Scripting. Enable the following:
*Active scripting
*Allow paste operations via script
*Scripting of Java applets (enabled all).Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
5) Restart YM!
Hope this will solve your problem

MemberDear confused,
What version of Norton Antivirus are you using? Have you updated it recently by looking at the date status in its main menu. Sometimes it looks like it is updating but in reality, it is not. Once you have everything updated, boot into Safe Mode and run Norton first (full scan), restart, boot into Safe Mode right-away (Safe-Mode with NO NETWORKING), run Ad-aware and Spybot, restart, boot into Safe Mode right-away, run Norton (full scan) again, click Start, run, type in “msconfig”, go into the Services and Startup tab and remove any suspicious name you see, such as “prjMensagem”. Accept everything, remove your DSL/Cable line, etc., do not connect to the Internet yet. Do a full scan of your computer 1 more time with Norton, Ad-aware, Spybot. Make sure you choose FULL SCAN for Ad-aware and Norton.
P.S: Try SpySweeper and PestPatrol also =)
Hope this helps

MemberDear UnSaKreD,
What build of YM! did you test it on? Besides version 6, does 5 also affected? Btw, this seems like a variant of an old exploit regarding how YM! handles images and avatars.
So is this new finding a buffer overflow? design flaw? care to explain a little bit more? =)
Good job !!! and keep us up to date ;P

MemberHi Yisdiren,
You can manually get into Safe Mode, and try to delete the files that I mentioned above. Please make sure that those file(s) is in the same location that I specified, DO NOT delete the file if it is located in another folder, especially if it is located under Windows. The reason for this is because the trojan/virus might take the same name as one of Windows system file(s) but just in a different folder. So make sure you delete the virus file, not the system file.
Second, try to see if you can run the registry and remove all the start up entries that have the trojan/virus filename.
The best and safest way is to support and buy an anti-virus and anti-spyware software. Norton Antivirus, PestPatrol…They both do detect and remove Magic PS 1.x. I haven’t tested Spybot and Ad-aware yet, but I don’t think they can remove Magic PS. Anyone tested this yet? if so please let me know =)
Hope this helps

MemberHello flying angel,
Try to download & install the Yahoo Toolbar/Yahoo Toolbar with Anti-spy by itself. Restart your computer. Then try to uninstall just the Yahoo Toolbar or the Yahoo Toolbar with Anti-spy. And when you install Yahoo Messenger, select custom install and make sure you do not select the Yahoo Toolbar to install again.
Hope this helps you, if I mis-understand you, please reply again =)
P.S: You can also manually remove the entries in the registry, but that is a little bit dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing.

MemberHi scottntx,
Right-click on your windows’s taskbar and choose “Task Manager”. Click on the “Processes” tab. Please list everything you see on there here so I can analyze what is running on your computer. Do this after you had use Norton, Ad-aware, Spybot, Spysweeper with the lastest updates.
