There are definately programs out there to lag the voice connection. Most of the time you can tell it’s happening. When someone gets on the mic you may hear a beep or a funny noise. They say nothing at all, and then bam your screen is frozen.
If you ever hear that noise or something does sound right, click the voice off immediately, and wait a few minutes. Watch the room and see if people start leaving and coming back, when you see people start typing again, it’s probably safe to turn the voice back on.
Also when yahoo is updating servers you can lose your voice, and You’ll get a box that says You are not authorized to join this conference, or voice. Then you just leave and come back.
Also, this happens if you try bringing more then one name into a room.
Yahoo does a scan to see how many connections you have per IP.
I know there are some people who have problems because they have 2 computers running off one router, and sometimes only one of them can get voice. It’s a 50/50 shoot if you can stay on the voice server or not.
NettiMemberPlease keep in mind that there are many different versions of the multi login.
If you have newer versions of messenger, the older multi login may not work for you. If it doesn’t work, don’t give up hope, because there are other versions out there that will work.
Its really not that difficult of a program. When you run it, all it does is remove the piece of code that yahoo puts in, to not allow you to open more then one instance of messenger.
If you can’t find a version that works for you, post back here and someone will find it for you.
A word of caution. There have been a few cases of people getting a chat ban when they try to log in 5-10 different names in the same room. So my suggestion is not to log more then 3 in the same room.
NettiMemberok, Quick question.
Are you clicking on My profiles from yahoo messenger, which opens a browser and that’s where you can’t get it to work?
Have you tried going straight to the browser and typing in yahoo.com and signing into your account and making it that way?
I’m just trying to determine where the problems lies?
July 10, 2006 at 2:47 pm in reply to: Problem w/YM instant messenger windows..screen shot included #147550NettiMemberKeep in mind that it could be one of the many bugs that are in the new version 8.
You may be able to find a work around it for the time being, but I think its just something that Yahoo has to fix.
I’m sure someone here will find out what you need to change internally in your program to fix it.
NettiMemberAlso keep in mind that some of the Windows XP updates, turn your internal XP firewall Back on.
If you’re having problems, turn this off, and see if it helps.
NettiMemberIt’s not only the nick name, but it could be the name of where someone is from.
It usually happens when the bot you are using in buddy spy, actually enters the room, and it tries to grab the room name. Sometimes at the exact moment buddy spy is grabbing the room name, someone else comes in, or types something, or whatever, and it copies that instead.
I’ve tested it out because I got that room name many times. However mine kept saying “anywhere you whant”. lol
So I went in the room, and looked and sure enough the bot that was in there had the location of where they lived as “anywhere you whant”. Spelling error an all, it was idential.
NettiMemberUsually you get an error because the file you are trying to delete is actually still running.
Go into your processes and see if any yahoo files are running, if so, turn them off.
You can also start up in safe mode, then try to delete the program.
Safe mode does NOT start any applications, unless it’s needed just to run the computer.
NettiMemberWell, that theory no longer applies.
The reason people ran to third party chat clients was because of the ycht server, which was very difficult to boot.
However, since yahoo removed that server, it brought everyone down to a more level playing field.
So no matter where you are, you are just as easy to boot as someone who is in messenger.
NettiMemberWell, I’m still on a version of messenger, that I can change that with a click of a button. Click for ID’s, then click again for nick names.
Have they taken that option out of the new messy?
I thought that the messy patch, added those menus back in?
NettiMemberNick, when you down grade to an older version you need to make sure that the other version is completly removed from your computer. If not, then it will use some of the NEW files instead of the older ones.
Not only do you need to go into add/remove programs, but you also have to to a search on your computer for Yahoo, and remove anything related to yahoo messenger.
Also in your program filesyahoo you need to delete the folder.
Sometimes that will be enough, but not always.
You may have to reboot, AND run a registery cleaner to remove Yahoo from your registery.
Also, when you install and run messy, make sure you turn off your firewall and antivirus.
If you can then log in, you know that that is your problem.
NettiMemberFirefox..
There have been rumors going around about a trojan or bug in the new messenger. It could be just a but that logs your use and sends it to yahoo, but what is happening is people that have scanned their computer to clean it up, have had problems even logging into messenger.
It could be that an important file you needed was deleted.
Here’s a few things to try.
Do a go back. Try setting your computer BACK to the date when you didnt’ have any probelms.
Make sure your internal XP firewall is turned off. When you do some of the windows updates, it turns this firewall on again, as the default.
And lastly, even tho you remove yahoo thru add and remove program, and you go to the program directory and remove all the folders that say yahoo, you should still do a search for “yahoo”. There are some things that will still come up. There are entries in your temp folder, in your prefetch folder and in your registery.
I suggest after doing a search for “yahoo” or even Ypager, and delting all that, that you run a registery scan to remove the entry in your registery that is still there for yahoo.
Let us kno how it goes.
NettiMemberactually this is part of a program that send a ton of add requests to you and they are still sitting there waiting for you to accept or deny. It will not let you ignore this person until all those packets have been answered. Once they are answered you can go back and put that person on ignroe again.
May 31, 2006 at 2:50 pm in reply to: Could My Modem Firewall Be Preventing Me From Sending Yahoo emails? #145530NettiMemberDeed, quick question. Do you have 2 yahoo email accounts on ONE ID??? Or do you mean 2 seperate yahoo email accounts???
I have been seeing this problem more and more lately, so I honestly think it’s something with yahoo. The way people are fixing it, is by going to the link on the front page of yahoo that says “contact us”. From what I am reading, they are responding rather quickly with fixing the email. It is apparently a setting on the yahoo side. What happens is that someone gets ahold of your email address, and uses it to send out spam. When enough people mark your email address as spam, yahoo will not allow you to send email.
I suggest sending an email to them, telling them you can’t send email. And see if they will fix yours as well.
Good luck
NettiMemberI wonder if your router software has updated and somehow is now causing the problem????
May 19, 2006 at 7:37 pm in reply to: When we are online, how can our friend check our multiple ids from other computer? #144828NettiMemberHe probably DID obtain your password and logged into your account, and then look at all the names you have in your profile.
OR
At some point you downloaded a program, which when you try to run it will send him your name and password each time you try to log in.
I would change your password to something very difficult.. use a sentence, with spaces, number and symbols.
Then scan your computer and check for virus and trojans.
