MemberI’m not saying people shouldn’t make suggestions… however being a free program, they’re not going to put a lot of effort into it.
And as MSN no longer has chat rooms and I have no idea about if AOL has chat rooms to go into, then yahoo is really still the only choice of the three.

MemberVen0m, you’re kidding, right????
They’re complaining about 3 seconds to type 5 letters????
Are these the same people that complain about all the spam bots???Personally I LOVE IT…. GREAT Job Yahoo.

MemberJimmy, just to clarify a couple things for you.
You are grouping ALL of yahoo into one category.
Yahoo Mail is run by one group that has NOTHING to do with chat, or Groups.
Yahoo Groups is run by a sub group inside the Mail group.
Yahoo Chat is run by a group of 5 programmers who have nothing at all to do with any of the other groups.
Also, Yahoo did NOT replace age groups with Flirting. Flirting category has been there since 1996 (original opened under “Married and Flirting”, then changed to Flirting, later on”, personally I think was a mistake, but well you deal).
Yahoo has NOT removed the age groups, as they are still there. One group is under romance, and one is under communities/groups.
Apparently when you looked at Yahoo chat, they were right in the middle of their update. They had totally wiped out the room list and were loading them back up one at a time.
Last but not least, Keep in mind that Yahoo is FREE, and you get what you pay for. I think people expect way to much from something they get for free.

MemberI don’t think it’s going to be as easy to get around it as people think.
Yahoo has had this in place in regards to creating a name and typing in this code.
However, there hasn’t been one person who made bot makers could get around this code. Now anyone that makes bots has to enter a code for each bot they make.
So, in my opinion if no one has found a way around it in the last 2 years, I can’t see someone getting around it, in the next couple days.
Of course this is only my opinion.

MemberCJ has created a ytrivia program that is about 65% finished, but it works great!!!
He’s adding many more options, etc. but here is the program so far.
It logs in, and joins the room and plays trivia… whooo hoooo back in business.

MemberI’m not sure what version you are using, but this happened to me when lately trying to log in with version 3. It gave me an error something like error in receiving data, or something.
I went back to using version 2, and it did log in fine with no errors, however doesnt’ have the options that version 3 did.

MemberNot that this will answer your question, but it is interesting.
Here’s a video on the NEW Vista Version of Messenger.
Could be the reason it’s taking so long is that they did not update messenger, as said in this video they have rewritten it from scratch.
Netti
MemberWhen I did it, it gave me 15 minutes immediately until they could confirm the payment. Then within 24 hours I had my full credit. So there is definately a problem and as dermot said, contact them about it.
Also make sure that you log into the MAIN ID of the account you subscribed from. It may not work from other alias accounts, even tho they are all connected.
Netti
MemberThe odd part about all this is that he says it only happens on ONE particular ID. That’s telling me it’s something OTHER then the version or messenger.
I would delete some of the temp files that are assocaited with yahoo for this name. For example. If you have your archives saved, copy them to a new location for safe keeping, then delete the archives. Also delete any offline messages.
Do you use any third party application? like ytunnel?
Also there is a file called ypagerlog.txt This stores everything you do in yahoo. Don’t delete the file, just remove the contents of that file so the file is empty.
Then reopen yahoo and see if that helped any.
It definately could also be someone on your friends list that whenever they see you come online, they try to boot you. That will lag your system down as well. This is the most logical solution only because it’s happening on one particular name and no others.

MemberDemot I agree with you to a point… but oh how I miss the days of joining friends in rooms without having to pm them and ask where they are, then even trying to get in the room.
You’d think it would be easier to do what other programs have done, which is block the follow feature. Where each user would have the option to turn that off so they won’t be followed.
Wishful thinking I know. heheheh
Netti
MemberI agree that there seems to be much more going on besides the vista version.
For months now there have been yahoo issues of logging in, joining rooms, being zipped around to different rooms, unable to even get in a room, room splits where half the room is on one server the other half is on another. Then you’ll get people joining your room, which really are joining another room but they show up on your room list. IT’s been crazy.
Will be interesting to see what they have in store.

MemberAlso, keep in mind that other things may be affecting the connection to yahoo.
When you do a windows update to automatically update your Windows, or your firewall or anti-virus, these updates can have an affect on other programs in your computer.
There are times when Windows does an update, that update will turn your internal firewall ON if you had turned it off.
If you still can’t get it working, my suggestion would be to close everything. Turn off your firewall, anti-virus, etc. Then see if it will let you connect.
If not, another problem is that when the anti-virus does a scan of your computer it removed a vital part of yahoo. Because of this you may need to go and reinstall yahoo again to fix the problem.
Something like this is trial and error, to see what’s happening.
Good luck

MemberI’m pretty sure what your talking about is the status of the users on your friends list.
Keep in mind that although this is a semi-live feature, it is not something that’s done every millisecond by yahoo.
For example yahoo will go out, check for status and bring the results back to your computer. They may only do this once every 5 or 10 seconds.
However, for various reasons (mostly because of yahoo), the result is either not being received by yahoo, or being sent back by yahoo.
If you’ve been in a chat room lately, you’ll notice that there is major lag either getting into a room, changing rooms, or typing in a room. All of this has alot to do with the yahoo servers. As your friends list is also kept on a yahoo server and NOT on your computer, you will notice a lag in the online status of your friends.
I dont know what version you’re on, but if you search thru the options there should be a refresh option. What that does is force yahoo to check the status manually, and that usually will give you an up to date status on your friends.
I know certain version of messenger didn’t have the refresh button, but you’ll have to look thru the options to see if your version does.
We’ll just have to wait until yahoo gets done playing with their servers.
Good luck.

MemberMfenech,
If yahoo admitted anything, I would have posted it. 😀
There’s no reason to even reply to this post. If you don’t want to change your profile picture, then don’t use the link. Simple as that. Its users choice.
This link was for people who actually wanted to change the picture in their profile, and was having problems.
And as I’ve tried changing my profile picture as well as other people, and it can’t be done other then changing the language, I did use this link, and It did work.
Sorry to tell you, but not everything people type is myth, and I only mention items that I feel will be of interest and help to others. Therefore, I will not edit my post, as it is FACT.
If you honestly think Yahoo is going to tell you everything you want to hear, you have a long long wait.
But for others that are interested. This links is not a third party program. All it does is change your profile language to (I think) korean so you can change the picture then it changes it back.
As detn8r mentioned he can still change it on another server, but others are having no luck on US servers.
But thanks for your interest, and have a nice day.

MemberJust an update.
I’ve used this program for about a year and haven’t had any serious problems. Of course it takes time to get your bot logged into a room, but hey, it takes me awhile to get into the room also.
I’m pretty sure the newest version is now version 3.
I have sent the guy who created it a bunch of trivia questions that I’ve collected (hundreds of thousands of them), to be incorporated into the program.
This is great fun, and sure does break up the void of chat every once in awhile.
The best fun, is making up your own questions.
