When yahoo gave you the ability to create a dot ID, people came out in droves to create their web site’s id.
i.e. http://www.yahoostuff_com
Only problem is that you are only allowed ONE dot. So anything else will have to be another character.
As time goes on, and we no longer even need to type www in the address bar and we can now just type
yahoostuff.com:)
it wouldn’t really do yahoo any good to just stop the ability to make www names. I know only certain characters can be made after the dot, but you can add a variety of smilies, etc.
NettiMemberThis has been an ongoing problem for quite awhile.
It use to happen because as soon as the person adds him/herself to your list, they go and delete that alias off their account.
Then when you click deny, yahoo doesn’t know what to do, because the name you are denying does not exist.
So it sits there.
There’s a few things you can try.
Go to your email and see if the name exists in that list.
Also go to your friends list which can be found online, and see if you can delete it from there.
This is the linke to your yahoo friends list.
http://messenger.yahoo.com/edit/
If that doesn’t work, also try deleting your ypagerlog. This is where all the information about who you pm’d, camed, file transfered, etc. is stored.
Try those things, then get back to us and let us know.
NettiMemberDermot… that is true, until they move to step two… which is to remove ymsg12 and 13…
Then nothing that logs in will work, except Messy 8. LOL
Oh the joys of Yahoo.. LOL
NettiMemberI have heard also that 8.0 has a glitch of some kind with offline messages.
Apparently, if you turn on your archives, you will either see the offlines there, or it will start showing up.
Not sure why or how come, but this is the fix that I’ve been seeing on various forums.
Try it and let us know.
September 14, 2006 at 3:09 pm in reply to: Can I edit the Ytunnel iggy bin file outside of Ytunnel? #150104NettiMemberIf, I’m understanding you correctly, the answer is NO.
You can not edit the ytunnel ignore list outside ytunnel.
Well unless you can unencript, an encripted file.
I had researched this question, because I wanted to merge two different ignore lists into one.
However, I also found, as stated above, the more people in your bin, the slower ytunnel takes to load up and shut down.
I NEVER emptied my bin. I had over 65,000 people in it. However, it took ytunnel approximately 6 minutes (and yes I timed it), to load up.
So my suggestion to you is to change your setting in the iggy bin, to remove those people from the bin that you have not encountered within the last 2 weeks.
This should take care of so many of your delay problems.
Also, remember to use the Wildcard. This feature will take care of so many bots at the same time.
NettiMemberOk, so now we all know, through 34 pages of posts, the following information.
1. Yahoo has patched the P2P scanning. This is affect EVERY program not just BS. There were many programs out before BS came around, and those are affected as well. I’ve been told that some programmers have found a NEW packet that will check online status, so we just wait, be patient, and someone will release a program.
Just a side note. The P2P scanning being patched is not something that’s new. Yahoo has been patching P2P services for years now. Back about 8 years ago you could actually get IP addresses from anyone. But yahoo has patched many of the features that use P2P. Now you are going thru a yahoo server, and not a direct connectin… anyway that’s on a thing.
2. Yahoo has definately patched the /goto or join user feature. When asked why, Yahoo replied that it was an invasion of privacy of the user of yahoo, and that this feature is a permanent patch, and will NOT be back.
3. Keep in mind in regards to Web sites. The more people that visit a web site, the more bandwidth everyone takes up. Some websites have a limited about of bandwidth they can use a month. If the site exceeds that amount, then the site is closed down, until the new month starts.
There would have been NO WAY of posting anything to let us know that the BS web site was down, and as someone said Unsak does not always know what’s going on, and in this case there would have been NOTHING he could do about it anyway.
I know we are all (including me) so very spoiled with this program. We’ve become dependent on it’s accuracy, and have the ability to decide (with the help of this program) if we want to join a certain room or not. As with any patch yahoo does we all just need to be patient, and wait. Sooner or later, someone will come up with something for us.
Thanks, all, have a great day.
NettiMemberDrea… you are right.. ycht protocol is gone. But as dermot said they change change the text to make it look like they are in ycht. Then tell you some BS that they know something no one else does. lol
There are only two protocol’s left. Ymsg and chat 2.
NettiMemberJust another note to people.
This is NOT just an issue with Buddy Spy. This affects EVERY online checker out there.
So don’t think downloading a different program will make any difference, because it won’t.
This is a patch done by Yahoo, which causes false readings.
Even if you do find a little trick, which there are a few, DO NOT take stock in the results you receive. They are NOT accurate.
Please be patient while Brandon and the other programmers, work on a fix to this. When they do, someone will let us all know.
NettiMemberIt’s always good to give it at least 24-48 hours. As we all know Yahoo has a tendency to update their servers, etc. which not only messes around with yahoo, but with buddy spy and other programs as well.
NettiMemberActually this happens to me alot.
From what I can tell, where’s what happens.
Your bot tries to enter the room, then it copies the first line it sees after entering the room, however… Some names get stuck in a room.
What I mean is.. have you ever entered a room, and it seems that someone has just entered right after you? Then if you leave and come back, that same name joins the room again? Kind of seems like someone is following you, but all that has happened, is that bot, or person, has logged off chat and their name gets stuck in the room. It will stay there until the person logs back in again. So when you get a person’s name in your buddy spy, normally it’s a bot, or someone stuck in there, or even someone who entered the room immediately after your joined.
This is NOT the name of a person they are pm’ing with.
NettiMemberKeep in mind that with the creation of more and more spam programs out there that only fill up rooms. Buddy spy will try to send your bot into a room, then copy the room name down and leave the room, and give you the reading. However, when a room is full, you will get the reply that the user is not in chat, because your bot could not follow the person into the room.
Even if you try to get into the room, and have no problem, it doesn’t mean that 30 seconds ago, someone else wasn’t trying to send all their bots into a room.
I have this problem ALWAYS when a room is full. If I keep rescanning over and over, sooner or later the bot is able to join the room.
NettiMemberrafaelemt is absolutely correct… Here’s why.
According to yahoo, in order to use their voice, you need to have a 56 k dial up connection. Then, if you are running other programs as well, it takes away from your 56 k connection, and the more you’re running, the more you will break up.
Also, These newer yahoo messengers have so many options and use many resources. You need to do a really good cleaning, get your processes down to the absolute minimum, and open the task manager to watch which processes are running the most. If you’re CPU speed goes from like 10% to 80% that is when you break up. The object is to get your CPU to be consistent. Fluxuating is ok… just not from 10 to 80.
NettiMemberThe version of messenger is important to know, because some versions you could set the amount of time you wanted to save the archives. It could be set for 7 days, 12 days, 30 days, etc. Or it says delete archives after so many does, and that number must be changed to ZERO (0)
NettiMemberThis is probably part of a boot or spamming program. They send you multiple add request packets over and over again. You will continue to get them until the packets are finished sending.
However, when you click Deny, are you putting them on ignore?
And yes you can definately add them, then remove them, however, unless you also remove yourself from their list, your name will be on their list.
As detmot said – someone can not take over your name or computer, unless you allow them to. That means DO NOT click on any links… DO NOT download any files from anyone, and DO NOT install anything that you haven’t scanned first.
However, just adding or removing someone, or pm’ing with someone, etc. does not allow them into your computer.
NettiMemberI am guessing by the way you posted your question, that you can’t join them in a room, because you don’t know the other name they are using.
If you do know the other name they are using, then why not just join them???
You can still use the chat commands like /join /goto once your in a room.
However, if you are asking if there is any way to tell what other names this person has? The answer is no. You can have various accounts and no one will ever know they are connected to you.
However like Oreo said, if the person is using the same account and just has different alias, then you can add them to your list, and if both names pop online at the same time, you have a better indication.
Better yet, the most awesome program is buddy-spy. Tells you if they’re online and what room they’re in.
