Doris KenneyParticipant
If you are on the latest version of WLM there is no “easy” way to do it, but there may be hope!
Go to login.live.com and sign in with your information. On the next screen, click on Hotmail > Contacts. You can then click on the contact and see their information. If they are not on your Messenger list you will see a note something like “You’re not friends with in Messenger. Add as friend” You should be able to add them that way. Assuming they did not delete you from their list, you should probably be fine. If they have deleted you then they will be sent a new invite that they’ll have to accept.
You do have to do them one at a time but it shouldn’t be too painful.
I believe that may work for you (but again I did not test it out). I’m reasonably sure you’ll see all your contacts in the Hotmail screen (but I don’t have a way to test it out at the moment.) Give it a try and let us know if it helps please! Good luck!
Doris KenneyParticipantI had an HP for awhile and I started having similar problems. Turned out mine was a motherboard issue that was actually covered under warranty. You might want to start by going to the HP website and entering the information about your computer – they’ll show you possible warranty issues, and describe the symptoms that would make them cover it under the warranty. My experience with them was fantastic.
If it is no longer covered under warranty – you may have a bad network adapter. It happens. If this is the case they can be replaced.
You should also check and make sure you have all the driver updates for your existing network adapter. Typically, looking at the optional updates available through Windows Update, or going to the device in the device manager will let you check for an update. The HP site should also list any available updates under your particular machine.
That’s all the ideas I have. Maybe someone with more hardware experience can weigh in on this one.
Doris KenneyParticipantLet us know how it goes!
Doris KenneyParticipantIt is typically a server issue and has nothing to do with you. It should resolve on it’s own in a couple of days.
There are however a few things you can try to see if they help. There are detailed instructions in the Windows Live Solutions Center.
If the steps don’t help I’d give it a few days and see if it goes away – it usually does. We all experience this from time to time.
Doris KenneyParticipantFWIW I’ve hardly seen any spam at all. I’ve only deleted a couple since you installed the plugin. At least for now, until they figure out a way around it, this seems to be doing the trick! Thanks!!!!
Doris KenneyParticipantI don’t know if this will work or not, but try logging into the Android version first, and then log in on the computer.
Or it may be that the mobile version doesn’t support it yet and until version 11 goes final it may not work properly.
Doris KenneyParticipantROFL….I *might* let you win today…..
Doris KenneyParticipantI believe a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY goes out to our fearless leader Jeff today! Have an awesome day!!
Doris KenneyParticipantMore than likely the beta is running from a different server than the stable version. There is probably a server side glitch and that’s why 10 isn’t working properly. More than likely if it was working and suddenly isn’t, it has nothing to do with your computer and uninstalling and reinstalling isn’t going to make any difference. The issue is more than likely a Yahoo one, not yours,
There is a good chance the issue will resolve on it’s own on the stable version, although if it’s important to get those SMS messages right away then you may want to stick with the beta since it is working.

Doris KenneyParticipantYou need to log in online and do the deletions from your address book. There is a spot where contacts are designated to be on your messenger list…or not. Everything is controlled from the integrated address book now.

Doris KenneyParticipantHappy belated birthday Mr. Oats!
Doris KenneyParticipantWill do Jeff. Thanks for installing the plugin – let’s cross our fingers it gets ’em!
Doris KenneyParticipantYah – I’d like to get one (mainly for the performance increases) but it’s not on the radar right now.
The personal hotspot only works if you already have the tethering plan for your iPhone (which I don’t). So, I’d still be getting a 3G which is still kinda pricey.
I hope to get one later when the mad rush is over – perhaps in a few months if I’m lucky! Let us know how it goes when you get yours!!
Doris KenneyParticipantSince your privacy is now primarily managed through your Windows Live profile online, you will want to check and see if your settings there allow everyone that you want to see your status and updates, and to send you notifications etc.
What version of WLM is your contact using? I’m wondering if perhaps they are on the 2011 version and there is a glitch in communication between the new and the old versions….just a thought.
You can also use messenger online. Perhaps if you login that way you will receive the notification and will be able to add the person. It’s worth a try.
Doris KenneyParticipantI believe the latest beta version of Trillian will do what you want. If you take a look at the latest features it offers synchronized chat features between computers and phones (including android and iPhone).
