wow thats quite an ugly interface
yeah i wouldnt really mind the “ugly interface,” but its the memory that i dont know if i want to lose to the program. i have plenty of RAM (512 MB), but since i'll be having my computer on for a long time every day, and having a lot of other stuff running…
shifter – what's your personal impression of the program? is it worth downloading? since i dont really have that many people on my msn list (i mainly use AIM), i dont know if i really need it…Quote:quote:Originally posted by ShadowSlayer469
May I ask anyone who knows, what exactly happened here? All it says is “THANKS”
without trying to sound harsh or anything, cas is still just a gimp, so i suppose he maybe didnt realize it'd be a good idea to add more information in the post. i mean he did already ask the question, so in all fairness there's not a whole lot extra to post.Quote:quote:Originally posted by MJPro89
DOES ANY1 KNOW WERE I CAN GET OR MAKE A INSTANT MESSAGING THING WERE ONLY PEOPLE WHO I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SIGN ON?…
ITS FOR A GAME ME AND AFEW FRIENDS ARE MAKIN.. http://www.7legendz.tk
what?? you can block people, so that they dont show up as being online, if thats what you mean… if you mean a program that actually prevents them from signing on to AIM, then try to find a forum or a site that deals with add-ons and programs to do that.Quote:quote:but you can try out GAIM
i already tried GAIM, i didnt like it at all… i'll try dMSN though, and i'll let you know how it turns out. thanks
EDIT: i went to the dMSN site from the link you gave me, here's the information it gave:
“This program allows you to see when someone closes a chat conversation window. It also allows you to be online with several MSN addresses at the same time, login under any status you want, use forbidden words in your screen name, see when someone blocks you or deletes you from their contact list, and send screen shots. It also provides worm and virus protection and a real time translator. You can also see smileys and colors in your contact list. “
if that helps anyone else out, go for it, but apparently it doesnt have what i'm looking for. thanks anyway shifter…Quote:quote:Please read my whole post [:P]
sorry bout that – typed before i thought… 😎 while i'm still posting though, any others you suggest? i'm in the process of trying those two
what would you suggest? any personal preferences? its a long list, and i dont want to start downloading lots of programs until i find one i like… all i'm looking for is something to convert either directly from DVD to DivX or from MPEG to DivX/AVI
note: i did try a few, like MPEG2AVI, AVIEncoder, etc… couldnt run the .exe files… tried opening them and nothing happened… dont know whyQuote:quote:Does it support asp/asp.net ?
not the free version… you can upgrade to “Premium” for whatever their fee is. i havent done that because i dont need to pay for a site that i only use as an AIM profile extension.Quote:quote:i tripped over a first aid box and broke my whole leg and i was bleeding like hell!!!
ahh, the irony…
i've had quite a few painful experiences – i'm a walking accident waiting to happen. to pick just one… hmmm… maybe when i went ice skating for the first (and last) time… the girl i was with promised me she wouldnt let me fall. right. sure. well about an hour into it, i tried slowing down or turning around or something and wiped out. LUCKILY, my head broke the fall. *wince* a few hours later… after skating for another hour and then driving home… i came home and my ma promptly drove me to the ER. three hours of sitting around and getting X-rayed and CATscanned… “your son has a concussion” – NO, REALLY? apparently you have to have a degree to figure that one out… geez. yeah so the next day at school – picture me: concussion, so i'm not feelin the best, my eye is swollen shut (it was lotsa fun getting my contacts in)Quote:quote:yup. add “smarterchild” to your buddy list
except smarterchild is now charging money… “Hi Tigerblade.
I'm going to leave you alone for a bit. I have more important people to talk to. You stay where you are and think about how cheap it is to chat with me for a full year for only $9.99.” Maybe its just me, but i dont want to pay $10 to talk to a robot… before, when it was free, it was good for a couple laughs though. basically they just generate some kind of response to whatever you say – sometimes its no more than just repeating whatever you just said, but adding “really? you think so?”
yeah i posted a thread a few hours ago asking the same thing – read it here… it still hasnt gotten any replies yet though, so…
yeah i'd definitely agree its great for typing ability… granted i'm still not the fastest typer on planet earth, and yeah of course i still make mistakes once in a while. but before i started using AIM (and then later MSN), i was a realllllllllllllllllllly slow typer. i didnt get AIM til last year at the start of college *gasp* but since then i've noticed my speed has jumped quite a bit.
and yeah i hate it when people use really short abbreviations. i'll admit, i use ‘k' and ‘brb' or ‘h/o', and rarely use punctuation or capitalization in IMs, but when people abbreviate to the point that you need your secret decoder ring to figure out what they just said… thats ridiculous.
*ps to RoadRunner – please try a different font maybe… it hurts to read that!Quote:quote:Use a firewall and anti virus software
i have both on my computer, but that wont necessarily stop hackers, etc…
wow – you go back really early… lucky you. i'm counting the days til i go back to college – as of today (thurs august 7) i have 24 days left… GRRRRR
and as for your question – i'm 18 (not a child though – i was under the impression once you hit 18 you can sit at the adults' table :-p)
yeah – the one i use for any websites i create (i've made a few so far) is http://www.freewebs.com/
it's free, doesnt use ads (all it requires is a really small line across the bottom of your page (its one line of text saying “this page was created for free…” yada yada yada – very reasonable, much better than big banners or popups!), and is easy to use. there's two levels – beginner for people who dont know HTML, and experienced for those who do. either way its really easy to work with. the only downside is that it doesnt support forms (checkboxes, textboxes, etc) which might come in handy once in a while…
hope that helps ya
i use Analog X's POW popup killer – it works really well as long as its installed and running. it wont automatically kill ALL popups, it comes with a limited list of popups to kill, like the geocities ads. when a popup window appears, you can tell the program to kill any windows in the future with that title. here's the link of course: http://www.analogx.com/welcome.htm
