So they blocked it? I used to be able to tell because the buddy info messages we’re different for users who were online.

Or … I think I’ve seen elsewhere someone who’s made a cut-down version, but I will not deign to use it until it is OFFICIALLY released (i.e. direct by AOL) without the “extras”.Don’t mind me … I just violently object to spyware, adware, AND unwanted software, on principle.
I don’t know how likely that is. They thrive off jamming software down your throat. I can understand they want to promote their own product. But I think that they MUST at least give you the option of whether or not you want to install all the other software. This includes viewpoint (no idea what thats for anyway) and other components, along with the browser.
f0rbezMemberdread wrote:1.0.18.1?I think thats internal version number. And yeah, the browser should definately be optional. Glad that they added file transfer support though. Compatible with old versions of aim?
f0rbezMemberThe other method of editing the prefsContainer.box file still works and gives the option inside the preferences. Disabling the aolBuddyListAd.js file is a good quickfix for noobs that don’t want to edit files though.
I personally like using the prefsContainer.box hack because it just unlocks functionality already inside triton. Mine looks like this.
Code:Theres also another ad option available, but it seems to have no effect. Maybe in the future or an old unused entry?
Code:Remove the collapsed attribute so it appears like this.
Code:I haven’t noticed any difference whether this is on or off. If someone finds that it does something let me know.
f0rbezMemberNice one dude.

Should be working. I tested it on one of the 7.0 builds. Don’t have yahoo installed at the moment.
f0rbezMemberHey Jon, let me know if you’d like more versions for your collection. I’ve got close to 70 of them. Mostly newer ones, but also some very old ones too.
f0rbezMemberThey still have an awful lot to do in Triton. I wouldnt expect it until at least fall.
June 9, 2005 at 11:04 am in reply to: MSN Messenger 7 – Show What You’re Listening To In Windows Media Player In Status #123900f0rbezMemberIt does work with winamp. Theres a plugin for winamp created by TheBlasphemer. It feeds the track info to Messenger. See http://mess.be for the messpatch, its included in there.
f0rbezMemberFull offline installer (without yahoo crap)

No need for heretic’s resizer patch anymore. This actually lets you size the list pretty small.
Attaching ad remover and polygamy patch (still working).
f0rbezMembernope, ya can’t view profiles yet. can’t do alot yet.
f0rbezMemberI don’t like that either. But it is an early beta, what can we expect? I like the direction their moving in though. Now, they just need to integrate the features and update some of the older things like smilies.
I think that this new AIM is going to be extremely customizable, since its almost entirely based on xml and javascript.
f0rbezMemberTorrentBits.org also closed down. TB was the best torrent site on the web. Also, pheonix-torrents and others have gone offline. Many others are being flooded by users looking for new communities.
f0rbezMemberLimewire is my fav Kazaa-like p2p prog. Kazaa-like not because its full of spyware, but theres alot of files that download very quick and its simple to use with no need to learn anything.
I only use that for hard to find small files though. I mostly use BitTorrent (Azureus), eMule (several mods), and Direct Connect (DC++). Also, IRC, FTP, and Usenet but they don’t really count as p2p.
f0rbezMemberI just updated mine fine. I’d try to reinstall it using the full installer and then update it.
