ParticipantTry extrembierslig, thats gotta be it.

ParticipantHave you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Y!M? If you’re using the beta 8 version, try going back down to version 7.5, or vice versa.

Participant- This is legit – see this news post – Yahoo and Microsoft IM Interoperability Arrives. MSN and Y!M can now talk to each other! (I don’t think you can find out who’s trying to add you until you’re using a compatible version of Y!M)
- According to this, the new beta should be compatible with Windows 98, so go ahead and give it a whirl!

ParticipantThat is definitely odd! What version of Yahoo are you installing and what operating system are you running?

ParticipantI think the whole staff here does a kick ass job of keeping the forums tip-top, and I certainly don’t find any of you rude to regular members. It’s unfortunate that a few negative comments have brought a lot of the staff here up in arms over this. Shrug that crap off, and keep doing what you do. I personally appreciate all of the staff here including both my Teams and the great work they do and though I’m a bit disheartened at the recent trend of staff leaving, I know those who are kick ass enough to stay and work through the little things as BBB grows will keep doing that great job they do, no matter how often they can do it. As Jeff said, keep things in perspective, and please don’t jump ship over something like this!

ParticipantIt’s heeeere! If you’re running the beta of WLM simply sign out and back in, same with Y!M, you’ll need to be part of the beta and simply sign out and in again to chat with WLM contacts! Sweet!

ParticipantIs there a transcript of this chat? I would be very interested in reviewing it, so I can understand a little more of what took place.
shifter
ParticipantWell that’s just peachy, thanks! But perhaps it would be even more helpful if you linked us to the specific thread that actually helped you? 🙂

ParticipantWhat site? Don’t leave us hangin man!

ParticipantI’m a graphic/web designer and my company does all it’s work on PC. Mac’s are great, but too expensive and too restrictive in software options for me.
It’s not a question of which is better, it’s which is better for you.
Have you ever actually used a Mac before?
If your answer is no, then this is a pretty drastic change. You need to try one out before committing long term to this baby. It’s not hard to use, but will you like it?Will you need to re-purchase software?
You will need to start fresh with all your software as you now need the Mac version. This can be expensive. Can you live without all your Windows software?
You may not realize how many things you use on your computer are only available for Windows. Make sure you can give them up!So if you’re cool with all that, then go for it. Mac’s are definately nice, and I’ve heard the tired old saying that all good designers only use Macs. My opinion is that design has nothing to do with Macs, your computer is a tool. Use what you know. As for Spikes suggestion, remember that booting Windows on the new Mac’s are possible, but not officially supported. (Plus you’ll likely need to buy both Mac OSX and Windows XP registration keys)

ParticipantYour database does not actually feed your site any of Excel’s style information. Here’s how it works, you have a template for your website script (xcart in this case), the script retrieves information from your database and this data is called into your site – it’s up to the template to add any other effects such as bold or italic, etc – it will not send any special formatting you have applied in excel. So to add bold text, you would need to adjust the template that calls up your script to add a tag around your intended bold text. (I don’t recommend bolding everything as that pretty much defeats the whole purpose of bold!)
You will need to know basic html and be able to understand the xcart template scripts to do this. If you had these skills, I doubt you would have needed to ask this question, so you may need to hire someone to apply these changes to your website script.
Of course you could simply do a quick and dirty fix by to surrounding any text you want bolded in your database with tags – ie:
bolded text = bolded textGood Luck!

ParticipantSorry, we don’t support that crap.
shifter
ParticipantIan, your moderating permissions are only active in the Yahoo! Forums. You can move topics out of Yahoo, but you can’t move them in from another forums. It’s up to the Advisors/TL’s of each forum to move threads that do not belong to their particular forum. Trust me, you dont want to step on the CC Teams toes! 😉
shifter
ParticipantUh so what is he in CC? A mentor? an advisor? I’d change it HERE if I knew for sure!

ParticipantIt’s more likely that it was someone who actually knows your phone number than it is likely that someone had your phoneline “traced”. I’m sure there may be a way to do this if you are insanely hardcore hacker elite, but the kind of people who might possibly have this skill generally don’t advertise it to complete strangers for no reason at all. You’ve been duped by someone you know is my guess, but whether it’s possible or not, you likely not to find out how to do it here.
